04/07/25- Update. Today my wife went to the storage and found out they removed our lock and placed another lock on it for the soon to be auction. It's been 7 days and they never removed it after I paid. My wife says our things in our storage was moved around and some expense shoes were missing. F*ck this place
Best customer service. I have been this place today to get my stuff in my storage. I coun't open the door at my unit. Asked he/she custom service to help. He/she was walking with me and was told me I am not always to help you to open the door. You need to open by yourself. Wth he/she said. The door is very hard to open, he/she couldn't open with his/her hand too. He/she went back to the office to get tools. As others have mentioned in the reviews, if you rent here based on a promotion or web rate, be prepared to have the price increased without proper notice. I rented an 8x16 unit in September for a web rate of $248. They increased it in December to $344 without proper notice, never received a letter nor saw any notice in my account online, an almost 39% increase! Not very transparent pricing. They had my credit card on file but still charged me a late fee.

Great customer service, the review is based on the pricing. Self-Storage pricing really needs an overall. Prices go up without notice, you sign up under a "promo" then then jack up the price on you "based on market conditions" yet they have plenty of empty units. I was told I had to purchase their insurance, when in fact I found out I can bring my own insurance $7.99 vs $12 a month. Got tired of going into the office to jump into another promotion. I went 1 mile away to A1 Storage, which is much better for my needs.

Beware of the rent spike people. After 3 months my rent jacked up and now will most likely keep going up from there. These reviews are not lying. Claiming it's a market thing but in reality just taking more money from people. Lots of webs and spiders around my indoor storage unit. Not cleaned frequently or maintained and still want to charge more.

Rate hikes are common. Shop around if you have time. Mine was almost 40% after the first 4 months. I didn't do my homework and look at the other reviews. Staff is really nice and helpful during set up. Space is clean and in shape, gates work well. I just wish that the rate hike wasn't so much.

I've rented numerous storage units in my life and it's common they attract new comers with some sort of promo which was why I signed up here. After the 3 month mark, they hike your monthly rate as you get situated and settled in. Extra Space Alameda's justification for their rate hike was to be aligned with the going rate in town. I've looked at 3 other storage units similar to my size and all 3 advertised lower prices on their websites with or without promo codes.
