This is my second time to the restaurant (two groups 14 & 8 people) The waitresses were not friendly at all. I know they are not bringing food to the table but they could be a bit more hospitable!
My fault - nice reviews on-line, we were close so we booked a table for 9. I was not aware it was buffet style, you make it yourself and watch them cook it. I would have liked to have been served. Again, my fault for not knowing this. Even though we had a reservation, it took 15 minutes to get seated. I think tables needed to be set up, since there were many empty tables. Glorified, over-priced mall food. Highly disappointed.
Despite making reservations days in advance and being called by the restaurant twice (day before and day of) to re-confirm our reservation, when we arrived the hostess acted like she was surprised we were there. A table had not been set up for us. We stood in the lobby and watched the hostess bus a table (10 mins.) and set it up for us while other parties that came in after us were seated. We've been many times to Fire + Ice as it's one of my son's favorite places to eat. Last Sunday, it seemed to be off. Table service was slow and it wasn't very busy. Beyond that, friendly as they are, the guys at the grill were also slow. Our family never ate together as it took such a long time to cook food. Many of the food stations were empty and not refilled after repeated requests to do so. Just seemed like it was an off day or something. Disappointing.
If you don't mind ordering 2 appetizers, getting one of them after you've already gotten your meal and never getting the second one... If you don't mind waiting 20 minutes for a drink from the bar (even after ordering a second beverage as soon as the first arrived due to the long wait)... If you don't mind your waitress setting a napkin on fire when clearing the table... Then this is the place for you!
I took a group of Japanese guests to dinner here after a day spent in the convention center. It was selected due to its close proximity to the venue and our hotel. It was a nice quick walk, but that was unfortunately the highlight. I should have done more research, but it was very much like mall food court fare. You select your meal from a buffet of veggies and meats and then hand them to a cook who grills everything together and returns it to you.
When I called I was told the kitchen would be closing at 11 and the bar at 12. Our server, (who's service was not attentive at all!!) Told us it was last call at 11. When we asked about the 12:00 close she informed us that it was the manager's decision to close early. We had friends driving minutes after work to meet us only to find the restaurant closed. Also, we were there to celebrated a birthday which the server completely forgot about!! Food was great as always, but the service was terrible!
It has 4.5 stars, so it should've been really good. I read the description, but never really got that this was a Mongolian BBQ style restaurant. Had I known, I wouldn't have selected this place, for a family get-together. We didn't get to spend much time together, as we were waiting for our food to get cooked at the counter forever, and at different times.
