I've had better experience with gj in the past. The first part was shampooing - the guy basically just scrubbed my scalp a few seconds rinse a few more seconds, done. My stylist spent 10 minutes cutting my long hair, but spent 20 mins blow drying/styling. He burnt my hair and scalp. The little girl at the front desk was rude. Charged me wrong the first time and didnt give the right cash for tip, though she insisted and I wasnt gonna argue as it has been a long day for me. Even though, it wasnt a good experience i still gave $... read more

I've been a customer of Gene Juarez in Bellevue for many years. I am extremely disappointed with the pedicure experience in the new location at the Bravern. If you go there expecting the private room and spa chair where you would recline with your eyes closed, you will be very disappointed. The new setup is a bench seat with a straight back. You stretch your legs out over the sink. If you are not comfortable sitting up in that "right angle" position you are out of luck. My nail technician did a great job, but I was uncomfort... read more

The new location is beautiful and modern. Take in the relaxing ambience of the rinsing room with green leafed panels, mood lighting and soft music. I've been a pretty steady client at the Bellevue Gene Juarez for many years. And while I really like the new location aesthetically, the service has been downhill for me ever since the move. The last two scheduled appointments were botched - I showed up expecting my usual person, only to find I had been scheduled for someone else completely (even though I specifically requested m... read more

While the atmosphere was great and there is excellent customer service in the salon, I walked out with a terrible haircut. It was extremely uneven and my layers were all over the place. I had it redone at another salon and the stylist was appalled that with as much training as Gene Juarez employees supposedly receive, something like my hair would come out of their doors. I have many friends who have had positive experiences there so I am sure some stylists are great but it's not worth the risk for me in the future.

Business response:

Dear Claire, I am so sorry that you were disappointed with your most recent haircut at our new Bravern location. If you would like to share more details of your experience so that I can follow up with the artist involved I can be reached at 425-748-1462 or colleens@genejuarez.com Sincerely, Colleen

The new location at the Bravern has seriously damaged the desire to receive any spa services at the Bellevue location. The women's changing area is unbelievably cramped. When I went in for a massage, there was already one person using the locker area and we had difficulty maneuvering around each other. By the time I was fully changed, there were three more clients trying to use the area and it just wasn't possible. The waiting area for spa services was incredibly cramped and not conducive to relaxation - it was a relief ... read more

Go somewhere else for a spa pedicure!! The move to the Bravern was a complete & total downgrade for the spa pedicures. The old salon you got a private room, comfortable chair to lay flat in, eye mask, total top notch first class spa pedicure. Worth every penny!! The Bravern is now a cattle car experience!! It's no different than the cheap Asian pedicure salons now. You sit in a bench, next to people you don't know, hearing everyone's conversation, forced to talk, not relax, no privacy, no eye mask, no comfort and worst ... read more

Unfortunately, with the move to the Bravern location, they have lost any legitimate claim of calling themselves a spa. Even basic amenities are completely absent. Tiny changing area, no steam shower or sauna, cramped hallways and a cold, uncomfortable foot soak area. As other reviewers have noted, it seems that their only focus is on the hair area which is visible out front. That area was clearly newly designed while the "spa" is just a repainted version of the old Red Door Spa which came and went quickly years ago. Poorly d... read more

They moved from the Galleria to the Bravern. I gotta say, I was very disappointed with the new facility. The use of space is skewed toward the salon. Huge space for the salon, rows and rows of salon chairs, but the spa section...yikes. Locker room is so tiny (one shower!?), and the changing stalls, yes stalls not even rooms with doors, is so small. Limited amenities, no sauna, no steam room, just a couple of rooms with massage tables. This is supposed to be salon AND spa, looks like they've chosen to focus on the salon... read more

Business response:

Dear Orcas, thank you so much for your feedback as it is very valued and appreciated. While our new location has taken on a different treatment oriented and community feel, it should not impact your total relaxation. If you would like to discuss your experience further please contact me at colleens@genejuarez.com. Sincerely, Colleen

I've been going to this salon for about a year. Lex gives the absolute best haircuts, and Jason is equally talented with hair color. However I had an eyebrow wax this last visit with Ziba and she scalped my brows. I don't have nice thick brows but every month or two I need to have the peach fuzz removed. I've never had anyone just scalp my brows. I will never go to Ziba again. Gene Juarez should have made this right when I complained but they didn't.
