I've been moving around a lot so it had been a while since I had gone to the dentist. I was worried that I would need a lot of work done and that it was going to cost a lot. I don't know why all these people are complaining, but I've been going to this dentist since 2008 and I just got back from a dentist appointment today 11/16/11 and it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Haven't had a better dentist since. People complaining about the cost should've asked first. The problem is with their insurance NOT Gentle Dental. It's hard to give a dentist a 5 star becuase who likes going to the dentist? I think this was one of the best experiences I have had with a dentist. They were prompt, courteous and told me every step of the way what was going on. Even though I had a cavity and half of my face was numb it was a good experience and I feel better that I got the visit done. The cost was reasonable. Thanks Gental Dental.

Stay clear of this place!! Dr. Acherman is predatory and only wants to make money off you. The only care she's interested in is getting money for her new car. I believe she is knowledgeable but she seems to be extremely stubborn and disconnected from reality. Not everyone can afford to drop 8k in dental work. She will refuse to do a simple cleaning and only wants to do what she wants. I read other reviews like this and thought it might be an exaggeration, but no it was 100% accurate. I never write reviews but I feel like I would be doing a disservice to future patients seeking out dental care. I came here after many years of not going to the dentist and that was the mistake. Telling them I had not been to the dentist in a while was all they needed to hear to try and exploit money from me. Dr. Acherman was very nice however she examined my teeth for less than 15 seconds before making a judgement on everything I had wrong. I understand that companies are in business to make money but not at the expense of their patients care. I went in for two crowns and root canals. The work up showed my crown alone was $600 out of pocket, seemed a bit much for an HMO. I had them do it but did my research before my next procedure. That crown was Gentle Dentals technology. I was never given an option of the covered crowns ($90-100) out of pocket. When I requested this they never contacted me again. Several messages left and no callback. I scheduled my first appointment at this dental office for a simple cleaning, and the experience was terrible. After waiting 30 minutes to be seen and another 30 minutes for X-rays, the doctor immediately recommended thousands of dollars additional treatments. When I declined these expensive treatments, the doctor refused to clean my teeth, claiming it was "too late" and asked me to schedule another appointment. Extremely disappointed with my visit to this office. I came in for a simple routine cleaning, and instead I was pressured from the moment I sat down. Dr. Maria Acherman refused to perform a regular cleaning and insisted that I "must" get a deep cleaning without showing any proper periodontal measurements or clear medical explanation.
