Disappointing Pros: Location Cons: Lack of amenities Location: Picturesque, but dull Not the high quality resort hotel you would expect. Obvious cost cutting has taken place, cheap toiletries, no free papers, no mini bar and one restaurant closed.
The hotel was nice, but our sunset cruise was cancelled due to engine trouble on the boat and they stated they did not have another. I made reservations in the hotel restaurant early in the morning for our birthdays; I asked for a window seat and they stated they would try. Our reservations were for 8 p.m. and we arrived at 7 p.m. We sat on the front porch waiting to be called noticing a table by the window at 7 not occupied. this same table was unoccupied from 7 until 9:30. All Flash and poorly run Pros: Location and view Cons: Service. Attitude of front desk staff and management. Scruffy rooms, Cleaning, In fact everything but the view. Hotel seems to be geared towards corporate events and weddings. Staff are not very well trained. Breakfast coffee served in a mug with loose handle. Beautiful Hotel. Mediocre Room. Dirty Bathroom. I stayed in Room #14 at the Harbor View Hotel to celebrate an anniversary weekend. I'll start with the positives. First, I liked the fact that our room was large and had a DVD player. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I thought the location was amazing and the hotel lobby was beautiful and clean; however, I can't say the same about our room. There were long hairs in the bathtub and on the bathroom floor. Harbor View was a big disappoinment! Perhaps if you are in the main building of the hotel you will have a wonderful experience, but that was not to be for me. When my daughter and I saw the hotel from the street we were thrilled. It is positioned at the the point facing the water and the lighthouse and is lovely. Don't stay here!!! Location was too far from Edgartown commercial center and attractions. Also, very unacceptable service. I asked to be seated for Breakfast. They were not accommodating and said that I couldn't get a reservation to get Breakfast in my own hotel. Not even for a quick meal, which I find ridiculous given how much the hotel cost.
Harbor View Hotel We booked a two-bedroom luxury suite, upon arriving we discovered that one bedroom had not been cleaned, the bed was unmade, there was toothpaste in the sink and on the mirror. The bell boy called down and just asked for a cleaning person because some things needed done. I called and told them the situation and they immediately changed our room but we had to listen to the maid complaining as we were moving to the next room. Would Not Return My girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and were very disappointed. They were repairing the pool which could not have been any louder! The concrete workers were on site and making noise at 8AM so any hope of sleeping in and relaxing went out the window. They did not bring clean towels or anything for that matter if you are staying more than one night, you will have to call and ask for them. Historic hotel with disappointing expension This hotel looks nice...from the front, but our room was on the extension in the back of the hotel. This section was not any better than a cheap motel and definitely not worthy of the price. This section with the pool view (abandoned pool with not water, with view on the trash containers) quite ugly.
