this hotel needs work.....but it will be happing in a few weeks
This property is uniquely situated in Edgartown overlooking the water. The lobby is very inviting and so are the restaurants. The grand porch with rocking chairs are a must do. I was initially placed in the Governors Building. The entire building was in disrepair and the common areas smelled. I asked for a pool view room with a King bed and received the pool view, did not receive a king bed. I told the manager on the first night and he noted that the room was supposed to have a king bed. They hire poorly trained young staff from Europe who are at times uncouth. One of the waitress staff were extremely rude.
Great location. But the buildings were well on their way to run down. Had an extremely disappointing dinner at the restaurant. Our waitress brought new meaning to the word disinterested. My son and I ordered the linguine with clam sauce for $33 a plate...four dried up clams and a little pile of noodles. Bread was elusive... no salads.. pretty bad.
Sadly disappointed! When we got beyond the hotel lobby.... our room was shabby in need of and update and good cleaning. And smelled of mold. Room cost was $500/ night for shabby conditions. Would not recommend. Porch was wonderful so that is where we hung out....
The front desk was very unorganized and computer problems did not help. Staff members may have been trainees which would account for needless waiting and reservation confusion.

Housekeeping standards were appalling, filthy bathroom, chest of drawers pegged up with cardboard to stop drawers falling open, balcony covered in mould, then the bed!! After a long day travelling I lay down to rest for five minutes and was met with a very unpleasant smell, on inspection, the mattress appeared freshly soiled with a ma... read more
We felt like management was ignoring details and areas. We found out that a new owner will be renovating much of the place soon. It has more potential and is not worth the price as of now.
