Totally Frustrated!!! Giving this printer 2 stars since I got almost 2 years of use out of it. I agree with everyone's comments toner is expensive but what is even more frustrating for me is that the printer is giving me an error message that it's not recognizing my toner. I bought a new cartridge thinking maybe I received a bad one but got the same error message. Plan to call Brother and hoping they will be able to help. Dont bother with this brother Didnt like at all quality print poor
replace toner error (corrected) corrected review: Turns out it was the printee's fault. i had installed an empty toner into the printer. I've gotten the new one mixed in with the old one. it kept giving me the error "replace toner" code and i was frustrated. call brother for support no help during late hour/amazon helped but didn't get a follow up. Not good enough for business printing in color We bought this for a remote employee's home office but the color printing is not sharp enough and the colors are off. Overall, it's not good enough for business printing in color.
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't I've had wonderful experiences with Brother printers, but this one is a dud. I've been unable to establish a WiFi connection, so I settled for a hard connect via USB. Sometimes the printer responds to this connection; sometimes it doesn't. Since there's no WiFi connect, I can't use the fax feature. Truly disappointed. I'll think twice about going with Brother in the future.
Wifi printing/pairing from the phone has been frustrating. The app and this printer do not allow for consistent connection. It's not very easy to get it to work. Then I finally, somehow get them to acknowledge each other and when I go to print something a few days later it doesn't work again. It becomes a game of figuring it out again.
Less than 6300 Pages printed and FUSER is bad! Purchased in July 2017 so as of now about a year and a half. This is the 2nd brother printer I have purchased in 4 years and the other one had the exact same issue after a short amount of time. This seems to be a pretty common issue with Brother Printers. This is my last purchase from brother. It did print great while it lasted. If you looking for a long lasting and reliable printer I would look elsewhere.
Network Issues... Well, I should have heeded the 1 star reviews about connectivity problems. I am fairly savvy when it comes to computers and I’ve tried everything to try and get this thing to print from our iPhones with very little luck. If I power the printer off and restart it, I can print from my phone for 2-5 minutes before it stops working. You can also download their crappy phone app and print from that, but it’s a huge clunky PITA compared to AirPrint which is SUPPOSED to work with this printer. I am giving 2 stars o... read more
Slow linux drivers and bad graphics quality I got this printer for what it is, an inexpensive color laser that I planned on using mostly for black and white document printing. However, the image printing quality is terrible. Most graphics print with muddied colors and unevenly leaving streaked images. I was happy to see that it did have Linux support (Ubuntu Linux) for network printing, but the drivers for it are incredibly slow.
