Horribly frustrating installation Followed the directions closely and came very close to giving up and returning the printer. Made me feel like it was 1994 again--back before printers were easy to install. What the hell, brother?!?
Watchout! Starter toner cartridge leaks toner into printer body. What a hassle! Usually this is happens with non original cartridges. I spent quite a bit of compressed air and time cleaning up this mess and then I changed it out for one I bought as a backup. When I finally got around to calling Brother Customer Service they told me it was one day past the 90 day warranty and I was out of luck! I asked for a manager and was put on hold for 20 minutes. I feel bad for Brother, they must really be hurting for cash… (e_e)
Creased paper. Avoid this one. Fast printing but right out of the box, I get creased paper. Every 4th or so page is creased. Super annoying since product was brand new and obviously shipped with this problem. Do they do any Quality Control?! Apparently not. Avoid this model.
Toner everywhere I bought this printer hoping that a laser printer with a positive reputation would benefit my business. Unfortunately, from the first print job I have had nothing but trouble. Each print job increases the toner mess and smudges every paper. I went through the cleaning process as outlined and it helped for one print job then the smudges began appearing again, getting worse each print job. This was a colossal waste of money for my business.
faulty starter toner cartridge - Oh, Brother! I purchased two brother printers in the past year, and one spare toner cartridge. Both starter cartridges AND the replacement TN820 suffered from leaking. This leaves me with streaky printed pages. The only fix has been to replace the cartridges entirely, or you can burn through about 10-15 sheets to clear the toner and get a semi clean print. Cleaning the toner out of the printer, near the drum, etc... only helps for a page or two. Switching the company to HP at the next purchas... read more
Spots all over page. Pick something else. I read tons of reviews on various Laser printers before selecting this one. The problem is, there weren’t any GREAT ones. So I selected what I thought was a decent one and moved forward. 2 months in and I’m not impressed. I use this printer VERY little, but when I do, I want my page quick and clean. This one is quick. But I’m not sure quick matters if it comes out looking like I rolled it in cookies and cream ice cream. The instructions for cleaning the drum say to print a guide page... read more
JUNK The wireless hardly works, i have to turn it on and off every time i want to print. Print quality is also terrible, streaks and dots all over the paper. Almost seems like this is a used/refurbished product or a knock off as all my other brother printers work great.
Not working well on wifi Does not seem to be a good network printer. I am an a pretty good LAN, but the printer is exceptionally slow to respond to PRINT action. Often times has the data light flashing, but will not produce the document. Again, it could be a network problem, but there are no other issues with the network that I am aware of. Lately, the printer prints crazy machine-language-type for pages in Word documents. Very random, but they will take 8 or 10 pages of paper with totally garbled data. In addition, it does ... read more
Undecided Pro's, Con's and questions is all I have. Default print mode is duplex, this has to be changed on every install. Manual paper tray is tiny (10 sheets) and often pulls 2 or 3 sheets at a time. Are the drivers correct for Windows 10 1903, because on almost a daily occurrence when sending a print job, the PC will shut off even though its using IP and power is plugged into a different outlet. The print quality is good, the overall printer quality is questionable. The main paper tray doesn't want to come all the way out... read more
