Undecided Pro's, Con's and questions is all I have. Default print mode is duplex, this has to be changed on every install. Manual paper tray is tiny (10 sheets) and often pulls 2 or 3 sheets at a time. The print quality is good, the overall printer quality is questionable. The main paper tray doesn't want to come all the way out.
Grey smudges are left on the paper The printer leaves lots of grey smudges on the paper. At first I though it was just a problem with the starter toner cartridge that was sold with the printer. I bought another original Brother toner cartridge and the problem persists. This review is for Brother Monochrome Laser Printer, HL-L5200DW, Wireless Networking, Mobile Printing, Duplex Printing.
Great paper jam machine, barely a printer Brother sent me a paper-jam and error machine, not a printer. I’m lucky if I can get 3 pages through without needing to readjust the paper in the tray. Sometimes, I’ll readjust the tray multiple times just to get one page printed. The problem seems worse when printing double sided and somehow, the printer changed my default settings to double sided. Terrible support from Brother My brother HLL5200DW was purchased for home use on 25 April 2019. A "starter" toner cartridge was included with the printer. Lately, the output has been smudged and dotted. I followed all of the "self-help" protocol that Brother support has on its web site. Then I made the mistake of "chatting" with them for over an hour, which involved printing test pages, downloading a firmware update, and unloading the cartridge and drum. Save your money; buy a different printer From day one this printer has spewed out "dirty" pages; it's impossible to print out a single sheet of paper without stray toner all over the place. Even after following the cleaning instructions to the letter, it still prints with excess toner on the page...but with a different 'pattern' than prior to the cleaning attempt. This printer is garbage. Buy another brand; don't waste your time or money on this printer.
Avoid This Printer if Possible We print multiple labels each day and go through a couple printers a year. We like to try different makes and models to see which ones print the best and are the most durable. We had problems from this one conveniently enough, soon after it was too late to return it. The image drum picks up to much debris off the toner cartridge and the label sheets. We have to clean the image unit daily with a cotton swab and alcohol (as per brother tech support). Blows Circuit Breaker Never could use this item - plug it in a the circuit breaker blows. I have tried multiple outlets. Any suggestions After many attempts - pulled this printer apart, noticed a solder joint on one of the wires that looked dull. pulled out the solder gun and redid the joint. Unit has not blown a circuit breaker since. Brother has the worst support attitude I ever faced, never will I venture down the relationship road again.
