Didn't make it a year. Worked fairly well from January until August of this year. Suddenly had some faint grey lines on my printed pages. Followed support instructions to resolve, didn't help and made it worse. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with customer service, walked me through all the same steps painstakingly slowly, and then offered no advice but to replace the toner ($120) because the original was no longer under warranty. Don't waste your money on this one. I have other Brothers printers which work well, for the most part, but this one is crap. It leave smudges, streaks, and other stuff that should not be on your print. Evening daily takeing it apart and cleaning the roller is very temporary solution. Tech support is a FAQ page..... I will go back to HP no matter the cost. I can not send out my work looking like it came from one of those countries Trump doesn't like....
The one I got is a lemon I never had this sort of problem with a Brother printer, but this one gave me dirty copies from day one. I'm using the cartridge that came with it. I've carefully followed the instructions to clean the element. No matter what I do, I have a dirty background pattern on every print-out. Ink smears pages I purchased this printer in February 2019 and I have been having issues from the beginning. Every single page comes out smeared with ink even though I keep on cleaning the drum. It looks like the ink does not adhere to the paper and I am guessing it's because of the speed at which the pages come out. There is not time for the ink to dry and therefore the ink spreads all over the drum and smears my pages. The Bad Brother Quality control at Brother isn't so hot these days. This is the second printer I've purchased that's had problems in under two years of use. The fuser started to fail after 18 months with ghost images. Maybe you'll get lucky and buy one that lasts longer!
Worst printer ever Initially the printer worked fine, but after a few months it started printing a ton of black steaks down the page. I tried cleaning the drum, tried shaking the toner, tried printing multiple blank pages to clean it and those steps work for a day or two before the steaks come back.

a smooth sound During printing it has a whirring sound. Not the purring sound expected.
