Do not buy this. It will work well, until it does not. I have had the printer for a year. All worked well. Now it will only print regular paper size. Envelopes, legal, glossy, you name it it will not print. But they used to. After googling the envelope issue I determined it is a common flaw. My last HP printer I had for ten years. This brother printer is only partially functional after 1 year.
Constantly have to clean heads wasting ink If you print only occasionally, you have clean heads nearly every time you use it. This wastes ink. I'd say I lucky if I got 100 text print out in a years time. Unfortunately for me, I owned it for a while before I starting using it - otherwise I would have returned. Very disappointing as I loved a previous model from Brother
Very poor I usually like Brother printers. But NOT this one. It is very very slow. It has to be plugged into the wall and not a power strip. It does not tell my computer when there is a problem. I have to find out when I go to pick up my printouts. Doesn't tell me it is out of ink - it just printed my documents with zero printing on the page. Ink isn't included on used model, clearly mislabled. I realized I was buying a used printer, but the product description clearly states one-year of ink included, however, there must have been some fin print somewhere stating you do not get ink.
Lemon Alert We purchased this printer for almost $300 and expected great quality because of that price tag. Unfortunately this printer is a total lemon. I see the price has dropped to $130 just 4 weeks later and because the test sheet printed okay I tossed the original packaging. Terrible Printer This printer was continually "Jamming" even when there was no paper jam it would give me a paper jam error. Terrible for anything other than black and white printing. And I was using a generic ink which worked great until the printer informed me it was time to buy genuine Brother Ink and updates stop recognizing that you have ink cartridges in and it will not print. Don't order Used - Like New I made the mistake of trying to save a very few pennies by ordering this MFC-J805DW Used - Like New from Ten Ten Sales. It arrived in clear wrapping, but as you can see from the photo that I attached, you could see ink all over the printer through the clear wrapping. Yes, they were great about taking it back and issuing full refund including shipping in both directions but I needed a printer the day it arrived. DO NOT BUY I have been using this printer for months now, so here are my thoughts: I needed something that didn't break the bank to help get through college. As a printer, I often have issues with Wifi, and it's a pain to change, but once it's working, it seems to do alright. The print quality is C-level work. Not good by any stretch of the imagination, but not absolutely terrible.
