Ink Cartridges Last a Long Time Love this printer. We were spending a lot of money on HP cartridges. With this Brother model the cartridges not only last a really long time, (about 1 cent each for black & white copies) the quality is great too. Color copies are a little light, but okay for our use, I would recommend this for any home office.

great So far this printer gets the job done and thats what i needed.
It was relatively easy to install the software on the computer It was relatively easy to install the software on the computer. I like that it is wireless so that I could print from my laptop anywhere in he house. The printer comes with two years of ink -- although if you are a heavy user, I'd imagine it will go by very quickly. The printing is acceptable, not poster quality for pictures. Printer met expectations Installing and connecting to the printer was done in a flash. Installing the ink cartridges was simple - hopefully they'll last as long a claimed. All of functions used worked flawlessly. The Automatic Document Feeder worked great for scanning a large, 2-sided document. The double-sided print feature worked great as did the manual sheet feed. Speed and Quality Normally you have to choose between speed and quality in a printer, but I was blown away by the Brother MFC-J985DW XL. I actually laughed out loud at how fast it printed the first text pages I sent through. Then I used my house wifi to send a photo from my phone to print on a plain white piece of paper and it was not only FAST it almost looked as good as some crappier printers print on photo paper. Awesome printer--EASY SET UP! Our family LOVES this new printer! We have three sturdents (2 college and 1 high school), and it seems we are usually running out of ink or our printer fand have just been heading over to Kinko's or the school print lab to print or make copies. This wonderful printer comes with a ton of ink, unlike the Canon printers which comes with a mere sample ink supply--for the cost of the ink, it seems like you should just get a qhole new printer. If the ink lasts, then this is worth it This is your standard printer. Easy enough to set up and connect. Prints well enough for documents and regular use. The big selling point of this printer is that you shouldn't have to buy ink for a very long time. If that's true, then the investment on this printer is worth it because ink cartridges have gotten as expensive as the printers themselves as of late.
