The most disrespectful, arrogant loan person I have worked with, ever. Can not keep his word. Changed the appraisal requirements, dropped the lender credit abruptly, then tried to blame ME for the situation. Was threatening on emails to get me to respond when he "thought" I was ghosting, while my neighborhood was without power and heating for a week in Central Texas.

Business response:

We are sorry to hear you were affected by the power outages in Texas last week. We sincerely hope you and your family are safe and have power restored. With respect to the mortgage you had applied for, it’s been almost a month since we started the transaction and we have made numerous requests for the documentation we need to move forward. We apologize that you felt rushed, but in-order to preserve the rate we locked in for you, we needed to move quickly to make sure your rate lock would not expire. Again, please know that w... read more

On several occasions, I asked to be called to clarify an issue. April’s response was always multiple emails when one phone could remedy the matter. I had to sign an appraisal waiver stating I had received an appraisal three days before closing. I questioned why this false statement was included. Via email “No appraisal was required, if so, we would have collected the funds upfront ...” I don’t appreciate being forced to sign false documents in order to close a loan.

April Richmond did an excellent job, was really straightforward to work with, and one of the primary reasons I selected First Mortgage. However, midway through I was transitioned to Carolynn Bland to process the rest of the loan. This did not work well, Carolynn was unhelpful, did not read or respond to my emails in a constructive way, and nearly caused the loan to fail and for me to walk away and do a cash deal. It was thanks to April helping me reconfigure the loan that saved it.

The experience started off great when I was first connected with April. She was prompt, knowledgeable and easy to work with. However, once I locked in the rate, things went down hill. I received conflicting information about the appraisal which I would have been okay with if that was the only issue. Although some unforeseen things happened, proactive communication would have gone a long way. I've used several different companies and this was by far my worst experience.

Communication. I was told things in the initial conversation, then never heard anything again until there was need for documents from me. No idea on expectations. I was told to have money wired, then after $33 in wiring fees found there was no reason to wire funds. When I complained about $150 notary fee, got an email it wasn't necessary - which I only read after she came. I would send Jake's exact email quotes and he would argue with me that he said something else. Totally frustrating.

April was great. The other aspects of the processing could have been better. They were waiting for something from my bank early on but, even after they received that, the process still seemed to drag on. I was asked to sign 4 or 5 disclosure statements, each of which had completely different estimates on cash to close. The notary had to come back for a total of 3 trips because either the title company or the lender changed the language for signature line. Out of 10 refis, this was worst.
