I began my homeowners policy with Nationwide on 12/2019 at a home replacement value little higher than I expected, but in the fair range. As a customer, Nationwide sent an inspector to visit and assess my home contents and building structure on 01/2020. Six weeks later, I received a bill for an extra $1k on top of the $2,300 (paid based on original valuation) with a new replacement value exceeding 68% from the original value! There is no way my replacement value is that high! I immediately contacted Nationwide and after talk... read more

Terrible customer service! I’ve been waiting for a month to receive a refund that was only suppose to take 1-3 business days to put back on my debit card just to find out I have to wait 2 more weeks to receive a paper check they mailed to me. Such an inconvenience!!! I’m pretty livid about this.

This review is of Nationwide Retirement "Solutions Center" During my father's hospitalizations for a cardiac event on 1/2/2020 and his subsequent nursing home and ER visits and my mom's placement in a memory care facility for her dementia, Nationwide has been slow, uncommunicative and unhelpful in accepting the Power of Attorney and disbursement documents my family needs to use my fathers' retirement money for their very expensive care. Consumer service directed us to send documents by fax starting in mid-January which were ... read more

Business response:

For processing Power of Attorney (PoA) requests, we will normally require a certified copy or the original PoA document to approve the request. We may accept PoA documents by fax or email if the document allows for copies to be accepted. Some of our newer Customer Service Representatives may not be aware of the requirement that we need to obtain an original or certified copy. We have sent a reminder to our CSRs of the above guidelines. When returning the documents, we will normally mail the documents to the address on file (... read more

Very dissatisfied with Nationwide "coverage and service." They have definitely shifted their effort into becoming a marketing/advertising company and forgotten how to handle insurance policies professionally. Frankly, I'm glad that I never had to file a claim with them because judging how they handled just getting my policies started it would have been a nightmare and ultimately I probably wouldn't have been covered. My distress came from just trying to cancel a policy, nothing more, and now this process has cost me hundreds... read more

Been paying my premiums for 5 years and put in 2 previous claim that they would not do anything with. Now with my current claim they are dragging it out all while i can not use most of the first floor of my house. I am having to replace the drain lines under a slab foundation. The lines are causing undermining of the ground under the foundation causing cavities. Those cavities are 8 inches to a foot deep and 3 feet wide but they say the cavities are my issue even if they dont get fixed and cause massive damage to the foundat... read more

I have been with Nationwide insurance for nearly thirty years and have paid well over $30,000 dollars in premiums for car insurance . I recently added a 2008 toyota highlander to my policy and was quoted a premium increase of less that $100 dollars. I got my plan ant the premium was for $ 200.00 dollars a month for that one car. Ridiculous. My household driving record is clean. Not tickets and no collisions. I tried to call Nationwide on all the numbers they have listed . All three numbers led to an automated voice telling m... read more

I had pet insurance through VPI (Veterinary Pet Insurance) / Nationwide Insurance for 10 years until I was forced to cancel it due to unethical price increases. The first year (2009), I paid $34.50 per month ($414 per year) for my then puppy. I anticipated reasonable increased rates every year, which did happen at first, so I kept paying because I wanted the benefit of having pet insurance as my dog headed into his senior years. By 2018, my dog was nine years old and my rates had increased to $57.93 per month ($695.16 per ye... read more

Had a roof leak rapaired by a local reputable contractor. There is damage to the ceiling and walls near where the roof leak was repaired. The Nationwide adjuster came out to survey the damamge and issued a check for damage to the walls but refused to pay for the roof repair because he was unable to visually inspect the damage before the repair, even though he admitted he could see the repair and the damage caused by the leak. Unbelievable!! Nationwide is not on your side!!
