I don't normally post a review but this time I just had to WARN everyone. I started the process back in Dec when owning was still an independent company. Here we are after 7 months (and an acquisition by Guaranteed Rate) and still have not closed. What a nightmare to work with. I am not sure how they stay in business. They ruined my credit - I had a high 700s score now mid due to multiple hard inquiries, they cost me money (everytime i request payoff quote cost me $10), I lost the opportunity to lock in a great rate from la... read more

Lol, just got an email from the loan officer stating that he could no longer honor the original terms of my loan because it had taken them so long to process it after reaching out just a couple of months ago to tell me that they were willing to process my loan under the original terms. If you decide to give these guys a chance, make sure you have a back up lender because they run a lot of commercials and this company merged with another and they are both a mess. Elizabeth Montes, loan processor, never returned my calls or emails after she told me to sign a document to fix a clerical error on their part due a audit. It has been 4 months now and I still haven't heard from her. I am lost right now. I also learned that Owning was recently acquired (by rate.com or absolutelyzero.com; Idk their emails keep on changing) so that could be it, but it hasn't been the same experience since I first re-fied with them last August. Our experience started out fine, good communication and good rate but it ended up being dragged out for 6-7 months and we ended up with no loan. After months of providing every document Christina Casillas requested. She kept loosing paperwork and asking us to resend. Probably the most disorganized and unprofessional person I've ever done business with. She refused to get on the phone to clarify things and they wouldn't let us work with a manager who had more experience. Long story, but bottom line, we are MORE than qualified... read more

Alright 2nd update! Started loan mid Dec with owning and closed in end of May with Guarantee Rate. Would I still recommend ... probably not. Apply at your own risk knowing that their teams are slow and you need to talk to 10 different people and they don't really watch their timelines. Especially if you are doing a new loan and need to close by a specific date. So a Guarantee Rate (GR) closing coordinator took the loan. Re- asked for tons of info. Still awful. It is now June 9 (last update was May 5) and I just got an email that we are "conditionally approved." Please see my full review and previous update to now how ridiculous this is. Who knows if this loan will ever close. We started it in early December 2020. Yes, you read that right, 6 months ago. Don't use Owning. Or if you do I'm warning you now that you are in for a nightmare.

I'm sure you have seen their ads on TV and on the Radio. Without a doubt Owning got the best rates around. If you look at their reviews in 2019-2020 they were absolutely dominating the California refinance marketplace with great reviews. However, in December 2020 Owning.com was acquired by Guaranteed Rate (GR) and this was not a good thing. Just look at recent reviews for Owning.com and recent reviews for Guaranteed Rate, they got one thing in common its terrible. So in short stay away from Owning.com... if you want to he... read more

This has been the worst experience in refinancing I've ever had to deal with. I constantly have to email them to get information on my account and I always get the same generic message or they ignore me. If you want to refinance, go somewhere else. They don't value their customers. Also, they're under the name Absolute Zero, now. Same company, same awful treatment. KEEP AWAY.
