Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced with a home mortgage company! 1 star is not low enough.

Owning now has the same good reviews as before. Apparently last year when owning got bought by Guaranteed Rate, Owning employees were forced to use the new computer system which was bad for California (which is why a lot of the mortgage brokers and loan processors left the company). I really wanted to work with owning. They provided information i was excited about............ Until they delayed so much my rate went up, before they locked it. Days would go by and a promised update was delayed. They don't seem to care much about the customer, broken promises, and overall uninterested in helping me(but happy to have me waiting around for any information they could provide). I really wanted to like this lender but dealing with them was a nightmere. I ended up walking away after even my file was conditionally approved after few months. There is a big communication disconnect between loan officer and underwriter. Loan officer and processor does not know how to communicate or understand what underwriter was saying. If you are self employed, do not bother trying to refinance with Owning.com. They advertise an attractive rate but good luck getting it. I have a 780 FICO, make 550k a year, liquid for 3mm and they declined my refinance. I was refinancing a home worth 1.4mm with a 280k existing mortgage. The worst part of the who process was it took them two months to tell me no. I sent the exact same underwriting to another lender and was approved in two days. These guys don't know what they are doing.

We had heard great things about Owning and constantly hear commercials for how great their rates are. We had two different friends that used Owning to refinance their houses at the same time as us per our recommendation. They were done with the whole process in about two weeks. For us, it took over two months. In the beginning, they would call multiple times a day while you were at work. Hounding us down. With the new owners Guaranteed Rate, it has already become a nightmare. My first refi with owning was a great experience, the new owners are terrible. Beware!!

Recently tried them out for a 2nd time in 3 years. Remembered why I didn't use them the last time. Good luck having them answer most of your questions, seems like if you don't commit to them right away they don't want to bother answering any more of your questions. Also the lowest advertised rates are only if you pay high points.

Good luck trying to reach someone. I called three times and waited for over 20 minutes on hold(after the recording said zero minutes wait time) finally hung up. I filled out the form online to have someone contact me, someone did email me back and I asked her to have someone call me and still did not get a call back. Shouldn't be this difficult to talk to someone.Taking my business somewhere else.
