Get directionsIt is with utter disgust and amazement that I write this negative review of our family's experience at Pacific Care Pet Emergency & Specialty. They are more like an unethical car dealership than a hospital. Their predatory business practices violate the Veterinarian's Oath, failing to fulfill the promises to promote public health and protect animal health with dignity, as well as violating principles of veterinary ethics. Our 1-year-old kitten ate something that was not food, creating a life-threatening blockage that requir... read more

Hello Alex. I am glad that Hakeem is doing well. Unfortunately. emergency care is expensive. We realize this, which is why we do present our clients with options such as Scratchpay, Care Credit, etc and we recommend that everyone gets insurance for their pet to help be able to afford these situations. We will always recommend what we feel is the best possible medical care for each pet that walks in our doors. In Hakeem's case, this was to hospitalize for multiple days, both pre and post surgery, in the ICU where she would ... read more
I really wanted to love this place, but after consistent lack of communication, I cannot recommend bringing one's pet here. Our initial experience at Pacific Care was relatively good. My dog collapsed on a Sunday morning; our local pet emergency discovered he was anemic. After following up with our regular vet, it was recommended that we consult with an Internist. After phoning two other offices on Friday, neither of which had appointments sooner than three weeks out, we phoned Pacific Care and were told Dr. Chung could se... read more
Don't go here Choose another emergency place or if at all possible wait til you can see a regular hrs vet My experience was terrible and a waste of time and energy and my pets energy
I wanted to offer my review as a means to help someone else. The facility was clean, the staff was extremely friendly and thorough with questions for me to best help assess my dog. I would give a star for that. I am completely heartbroken at the system in place there, as I'm reading reviews similar to mine about the amount of money being quoted to patients. Our dog came in for bloody vomit and stool. Not being a doctor myself I didn't know and was recommended this ER by Blue Pearl ER (who also cost $1,000 to tell me nothing... read more
Wait time is absolutely absurd. They told me 3 times that the vet would be right with me and I waited 2 hours just to see the vet. Following that I waited another 45 minutes for them to discharge my dog with antibiotics. No X-rays, no special exams took place.
Business response:
Yes, the wait times can be long. Unfortunately, we are experiencing extremely high volumes of patients coming in and if a critical patient arrives, a more stable patient is pushed back. However, we definitely should keep you updated as to the wait so if we fell short in this aspect, please accept my apologies.
Dr. Duesberg and the management of Pacific Care Pet Emergency & Specialty should be ashamed of themselves. We took Baloo, our beloved 4 year old rescue mutt to them, but he died a few short weeks later of liver disease. We do not fault Dr. Duesberg for this, as she is clearly a very skilled vet. But medical skill is only part of the equation. She showed little to no compassion and became increasingly difficult to reach as the various test results came in. Most upsetting of all, she completely ghosted us when the most definit... read more
I arrived at this clinic at about 2 am on June 18th, 2022 with my cat Fennec who had a blocked bladder; a potentially life threatening condition. As soon as Fennec was admitted I heard the sound of joking and laughter from the back room to which he had been taken. It made me uncomfortable to think that the veterinarians to whom I was entrusting my cat's life were having a laugh. The laughter increased and at a certain point someone yelled out "I don't even know his name," which was followed by more laughter. None of the st... read more
Business response:
Sebastien, I apologize if you feel that your cat wasn't being cared for in a proper manner. We work in a very stressful environment and I assure you, the technicians were not at all laughing at your situation or your cat's illness. They were, in fact, sharing a story about a different situation among themselves all while assessing Fennec and actively getting vitals on him. Our tech came up front to get his and your name so that we could get controlled drugs out of the lockbox in order to give him pain meds. The confrontatio... read more
I expected this reply so whatev. But I just want to add that pacific care also missed my dog's heart murmur which 3 other vets (from different offices; without having seen each other's report) have flagged as concerning.
Business response:
Kino, you were referred to us for Tarski vomiting for over a month. The doctor recommended additional bloodwork/urine because your previous bloodwork was performed 2 weeks prior and things can change rapidly with a sick pet. We performed an ultrasound which did not give us a clear answer as to what is going on, so the next step would be to perform an endoscopy so that we can get actual samples to hopefully give us a diagnosis as to what is causing the vomiting. Any questions that your husband had, we would have been happy to... read more
Customer, beware. Please read the reviews from Advanced Veterinary Internal Medicine, this hospital's former name. Especially look at the lengthy argumentative responses in the Yelp reviews here and there from the office manager, blaming the pet owner on every review that is even mildly critical. That is the in-your-face, never-listen-and-never-back-down attitude we got in person at the hospital (yes, we are referring to the correct hospital). It will happen to you if you have a question or note a billing mistake or are wond... read more
