They consistently fail to process payroll on the scheduled date. Not once or twice but more like 75% of the time. Weve contacted them numerous times and the friendly people assure us this will not happen again. And it does. I dont know if their legacy systems just arent capable of delivering a competent service in 2025 or if they just genuinely dont care. I do know that your employees care about getting paid on time every time.

They are not small business friendly. If you talk to a sales guy named **** run the other way. He will lie to close the deal but then you will get over charged for things you didnt sign up for. Stay away from this company. There are much better payroll companies out there!

Paychex has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. They are more expensive than most payroll companies and the customer service is extremely subpar. I used Paychex for numerous years for my small business and I had multiple problems to the point that they gave me discounts due to their own negligence. When I finally had enough and switched payroll companies, they are now trying to charge me $1500 to move my 401k to a different company, even though they know they've been negligent. After 10 years as a client of Paychex with relatively no issues, their service has deteriorated terribly. In the last few years, we have had numerous changes to payroll specialists, procedures, and 3 of our recent payrolls have been done in error causing bank errors and overdraft fees and endless hours of our time to correct. We moved our Co payroll from ADP to Paychex 3rd Qtr 2024. Paychex has FAILED to file quarterly ***orts and now the *** is sending a Notice of Intent to ****. Paychex uses unfair and deceptive practices in order to upsell unsuspecting business owners. They told us we legally had to use their 401k plan. All of our employees opted out. Paychex kept charging us fees and refused to allow us to close the account. We've called Paychex HR, Paychex 401k, emailed our account representative, and even emailed the ****** review team and we get no where.
