Mykela Gavin is the ONLY reason I would recommend PennyMac. Had it not been for her, this entire process would have been a TOTAL DISASTER. In fact, other than Mykela, I've never dealt with a bunch of incompetent individuals like those who work for PennyMac. First, after my closing on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25th), I was led to believe that I would have my funds by that Friday, May 29th. However, I received a call on Wednesday, May 27th, informing me that because of a screw-up by PennyMac...

Responding to emails and phone messages would be a good start. Two phone messages and one email went completely unanswered. It was very frustrating to have questions and not be able to get an answer. In the end, everything was fine, but when you’re dealing with hundreds of thousands of dollars you would prefer a little bit better customer service.

Our contact with Blen was fantastic. She is the ONLY one who communicated with us regularly. Everyone else was worthless. Please don't take the the just OK as a reflection of Blen. We would follow her to any company where she worked if it wasn't Penny Mac. The "managers" were absolutely worthless, Jeff Michener in particular. Vowing to return calls and NEVER did. A previous company we did business with was our worst but now they look fantastic compared to Penny Mac. Blen was a jewel!

Communication with the underwriter is needed between the applicant and underwriter. I was asked for documentation that I could not provide. If the underwriter and myself would have been able to talk we could have closed on time.
