WARNING!!! This clinic overcharges for every service they provide and triple charges for medications. They don't treat your loving pets or yourself with any compassion even when the diagnosis is grim. My dog had an inoperable tumor even though there is nothing that can be done the vet suggested to have a biopsy and initial cultures taken which would run 170$ note: that more cultures may be needed and that would cost more. If something is inoperable why even bother ordering test it puts the dog in pain and what ever is found ... read more

On the 27 of August I had the Worst visited ever never in my life while having my pets have I ever been so disrespected. The Vet Kennedy was so rude to us told us that our cat was really sick by only touching her and looking at her after I told her I had to go and we were going to look for other resources because I couldn't afford the x-rays that were $300 she decided to call the humane society and make up lies my gf told her she was going to go to work she got really upset and started telling us that our cat was going to ... read more

I'm fairly new to Portland and hadn't established a vet for my two cats yet. I thought this could be the perfect place as it was walking distance from my apartment. I brought my older cat here just for a check up. They were running behind schedule so I had to wait an extra 20 minutes past my appointment time. Not a huge deal - I wasn't in a rush that day and I know emergencies come up. When I did see the doctor, it was someone different than who I'd scheduled with. She told me the doctor I was going to see what still in su... read more

The people here were sweet.. I brought my 1 year old kitten in in hopes of getting a teeth cleaning. They said he had to have some teeth removed for his gums to be healthy. They told me that thislevel of gingivitis was going to lead to my kitty loosing all of his teeth if they didn't act quick. They told me it mostly occurs in male orange cats. They could remove all the back teeth leaving the front. And that he would be fine after the surgery. After getting a second opinion I found he was so young and in the early stages of ... read more

Unless you like being treated with disdain, do yourself and your pet(s) a favor and avoid this place. I came here for a second opinion because my cats need very expensive dental procedures and I wanted to know if the first estimate I got was accurate. When there were signs of fleas on both cats, and I couldn't remember the kind of flea treatment I was giving them, Dr. Mulshine not-so-subtly implied that I wasn't telling the truth about giving it to them consistently (I was), then doubted that I got it from my vet (I had), th... read more

Business response:

Thank you for providing your feedback, Lauren F.. We set a high standard for ourselves and apologize if you feel that your needs were not met during your visit or that Dr. Mulshine was not the right fit for you. She volunteers her time and surgery with a non- profit pet center weekly- seeing lower income pet owners and their 4-legged family members. We are sure her intent was never to come across as judgmental or harsh and apologize if it did. We are here to be informative to our clients regarding medications and procedures.... read more

We recently had a really unfortunate experience at this clinic, which is especially frustrating because its reminiscent of the other negative reviews that I ignored when I chose to go here for our pup's care. We took our 4-mo old lab in on Sat (9/15) after we saw some weird urine (it looked like mucus was in her pee). In anticipation of needing some labs I brought a urine sample with us to the appointment. The vet did a general physical exam, took a vaginal swab, and said she wanted to "visually inspect the gross characte... read more

Business response:

Thank you for providing your feedback and letting us know about this issue, Anna J.. We set a high standard for ourselves and are truly sorry to hear that you felt that standard was not met in your interaction with us. I have reviewed your chart and can see that Dr. Mulshine & Dr. Ewing have been assigned to see your pets moving forward as they take a more direct approach during exams. Please let us know if we can further assist your needs. Cheers, Pet Samaritan Clinic

Was a patient here for over a year, and getting my cat's prescription food through them. Mediocre care, but close to my home so it was convenient. I had bought into their in-house insurance plan, and at no point was told that I had to renew before it's expiration in order to get the renewal process, which was enough of a price difference to make it significant. So you can imagine my surprise when I was informed of this after it had already expired a few months ago. I also was not informed that I had to have him checked up ev... read more

Business response:

Laura, please know we take your feedback seriously and are sorry we did not meet your expectations. We have records showing that you received your pet's records along with a script that would allow you to get his food for the next year at any clinic you choose. We wish you and your pet the very best.

This clinic may provide good service, but it is very expensive - known for that. Possibly the most expensive pet clinic on the east side. I took my cats there for awhile years ago and had to switch to another vet due to Pet Sam's high fees. My new vet was very affordable with great quality care. Sadly, he has now retired so I've begun to look for a new vet to replace him. I thought I'd give Pet Sam a second chance thinking they may have improved their costs in the years I was away. But no, still very expensive. My cat... read more

I wasn't impressed. I felt I didn't get my questions answered by the vet and the visit was very brief. On the search for a holistic vet who had time to give extra care to my pets. On the positive side, the location is convenient and the assistant was great. After reading the condescending clinic comments on other reviews I am lowering my rating. Of course people are still upset months after their pets have died. I felt the responses were so callous. I am looking for a new vet.
