Pet Samaritan is a small clinic space. The primary vet that I met was nice enough. The clinic is able to make apointments with short notice. Its super close to were I live which i the primary reason for choosing this vet. I dont know if I would drive out of my way to come here specifically. I am new to Portland and dont know what the average vet prices are here but Pet Samaritan are a BIT higher than I expected but not crazy expensive.

We had a very sick dog that we rescued. She needed an IV every day and steroids. Dr. Erickson was an angel. She would get us in to see immediately would always answer my questions over the phone and would call if she hadn't heard from me for a few days. Towards the end of my Clementines life the clinic donated to me her medications which was a great help. When the time came to have her put down Dr. Erickson explained how everything would happen and made it as peaceful as possible. I will never take my remaining dogs any... read more

Recommended to us by our neighbor, they have been wonderful with my Mini Australian Shep, "Scurvy." Reasonable prices, answered my questions, treated me like a reasonable person. :) Nice for a change. His neuter went well, as did his microchipping and his shots. He was limping (ran into something I think), and we headed back in this week for the poor baby. The only downside is that you can spend a LONG time in the waitng room, which is hard for us since I have to bring my toddler with me. Still, a very nice vet.

This review is for my cat. She is polydactyl, but still can't type. It's mostly because she is lazy. Hello. I'm a cat. Dr. Sue Erickson is my doctor. I don't go to see her more than once a year because I'm healthy. I also don't move. Moving is a good way to hurt yourself. Just stay put, that's what I say. Only move to play with things or eat roast beef. Do this occasionally. Mostly just sit still. Windows are nice for this. Also speak like Hemingway. Short, declarative sentences; that's the way. Ok, enough fro... read more

I have had both good and bad experiences at this vet. However, the good far outweighs the bad. I decided to take my new kitty here on recommendation from a friend who owns 3 dogs. When I adopted my baby girl a year ago from the humane society she developed a gnarly upper respiratory infection. I had never owned a pet before, and for two days she neither ate nor drank and became more lethargic and listless by the moment. When I brought her into Pet Samaritan, they were very concerned about my kitty's health, and very co... read more

I've been taking my dog and my bird to Pet Samaritan for the past couple years, and they've been great. Maybe a bit on the pricey side, but they've done great work and they're pretty friendly people. I suppose with any business, if you only go once and catch them on the wrong day, you might come away with a bad impression...but I personally haven't seen this yet. Unlike some of the more snobby places around town, they don't also make me feel guilty if my boss makes me miss a vet appointment and I have to flake out on it (... read more

I live in Chicago now but was giving the name of this clinic to a friend who is moving to Portland. I cannot say enough nice things about this clinic. I started going to them with my cat, Caspian, back in 1999 - AND MANY OF THE SAME STAFF AND VETS ARE STILL THERE TODAY. We particularly loved Dr. Erickson. My baby had a vaccine reaction and I had to rush him back immediately to the clinic. Not only did he receive excellent restorative care, but they were so kind to me in my distress. The receptionist/scheduler is friendly ... read more

I drive past the vets' office every day, due to the clinic's so-convenient-it's-crazy-to-not-try-it location on East Burnside. Pet Samaritan is a block away from Screen Door and Moxie, not to mention three blocks away from The Standard. That means that while Precious Shnookums is having a procedure done, you could snack on fried chicken, buy new poofy shirts for the winter (to hide your chicken-filled tummy), or get hammered. The choices are tantalizing. But if Sugar Bumpkin is simply due for a routine checkup, you can wait ... read more
