Chef and restaurateur Marcus Paslay (Clay Pigeon, Piattello Italian Kitchen, Walloon's) brings a from-scratch sensibility and distinct culinary vision to the Stockyards’ Mule Alley development with Provender Hall. Its name a hat-tip to the area’s cattle-centric history, Provender Hall offers Paslay’s luscious take on American comfort food, with a playful menu spanning grilled trout to chicken gumbo to steak frites. Salads and sides such as crispy okra, braised greens and cheddar-cheese grits are also on offer.

Provender Hall. When I first heard the name I thought "okay, another bar in Mule Alley, another Stockyards spot with a name referencing something that probably has to do with livestock (google to check), yep. They'll definitely have standard drinks and basic 'cowboy' bar food. Another standard saloon!" Happily, I was quite wrong. I didn't realize at first that Marcus Paslay is the guy behind this spot (he also owns Piattello Italian Kitchen and Clay Pigeon) -- so there was no way Provendar's menu could be boring or bland. ... read more
We didn't end up staying. The menu was too limited for what we were looking for. The server was nice so we tipped him and left.
Solid local spot with friendly service. Large bar, upstairs and side dining areas, and a good sized outdoor patio. Their appetizers were tasty (salmon dip and gumbo were favorites) and their steak and frites was delicious. Prices were reasonable and the menu had a good mix of burgers, sandwiches, fish, and meat to choose from.
I visited Provender Hall yesterday had a margarita, deviled eggs and some spicy beef burger with fries. All excellent, I would certainly recommend the food, good value and friendly service. You can sit outside and watch cattle pass at 4pm. Thanks Brian
Our server Charles was unbelievably fun and gave excellent recommendations. We came in from Cincinnati looking for a warm southern welcome and we certainly got it! He sold most of us on ordering the steak frites and ordering to-go drinks. We had an absolute blast and loved our food/drinks
Good food and waiter. The Shrimp + Grains bowl was very good. Fries were good as well. Out of all the restaurants in the Stockyards, this one is the best.
Here again is a very cool venue. Marcus Pasly has done a terrific job of restoring and converting an historic building into a very interesting and enjoyable setting for his American comfort food concept here. We came for a Friday lunch with friends. Parking here in the Stockyards is an impossible pain in the ass. We grudgingly pulled into a paid parking area on Exchange having resolved to cough up the fee, but the lot was full. So we went a block west of Main on Exchange and found a free street space on some residential s... read more
Doug was great, the moment we walked in we felt welcomed! Oysters and grilled romaine was bomb! Cocktails and the special lunch was also great!
