Works great with 4" x 6" Generic Shipping Labels We love this label printer! It is working great for printing 4x6 shipping labels directly from Etsy, and it works great with the Generic Shipping Labels (listed as Compatible w/ Brother DK-1241 101mm x 152mm(4" x 6")) by BETCKEY.
Money saver It serves its purpose for light printing of a batch of 100-200 label at a time once a week or so, love the fact that thermal printer does not take expensive cartridge that needs replacement once in a while. This will pay for itself in less than a year.
High consumable cost vs other thermal printers Printing on the QL-1100 is fast and clear as most thermal printers are. It can print both wide format and smaller labels, but unfortunately there aren't many third party consumable options. Labels come pre-spooled with an odd dimension that makes it difficult to simply replace with a generic 4x6 thermal label. Works for Etsy shipping too! This printer is awesome for printing my etsy shipping labels! Open the p-touch label software. Put in your labels for 4x6 shipping. Turn on the printer. Click the 'paper' option at the top left. Choose vertical orientation. Choose format for 4x6 in etsy, and wait for the window to pop up with the single label in it. Then go back to the p-touch software, and click the 'image' option, and choose screen capture. You 'draw' a rectangle around the 4x6 label in the pop up window and then it auto pastes... read more
Mac connection requires driver download. Prints well. 4" wide option great for mailing/shipping needs. Using this with a Mac as an upgrade to a QL-570. The additional width is great for shipping labels. Even with the latest MacOS I needed to go to the Brother support for the Mac drivers. Once the drivers are loaded connecting to the Mac was quick. Easy, Professional, Quiet Why didn't I get this sooner? This thermal printer has been one of the better upgrades I have made for my home based small business. It doesn't take up much space, is very quiet, and was quick and easy to install. It is also quite versatile. I use it for the traditional USPS 4x6 size shipping labels, but it also can print all sizes of address labels, or go big with long continuous tapes. Fast, quiet, convenient Great label printer...why?..., well, first it was super easy to install and get up and running. I have a mac and it was quick to have it all setup and running. you just need to download the full program and drivers from the Brother site. This is the USB model, wish it was the wireless version because then i could use it from any room and my iPad. But it is still a great label printer. Its fast and very quiet.
