to start, we were seated promptly. When seated we were asked if we would like tap or bottled water. tap was fine however we had to request the water again as it had not arrived within 10 minutes. Waitress finally came over to take drink order which went without issues. This is when we asked again for the water. Drinks arrived and the waitress asked if we knew what we wanted and proceeded to order. Food arrived within 15 minutes and we asked for salt and pepper. AFter this, never saw the waitress or her assistant again. never... read more
Revisited this restaurant after a year's hiatus because of nearby City Center. Much to my chagrin the prices have risen exponentially with limited reasonably priced choices. The lowest cost pasta was paparadelle at $27, which we sent it back because it was undercooked and pasty. Chopped lobster cob salad with tiny half lobster proved yummy, but at $36 we agreed it had better be. Our server was sweet and attentive. Although we enjoyed delicious cheddar buns from a cookie tray, on the way out I spied a basket of breads with a ... read more
Very poor service and much too expensive for the food served. Entres average high $30 to mid $40's. Take the money as go to 5 star with better service.
Overall, we were disappointed with the Redeye Grill. The food was overpriced and service inattentive. I ordered rare tuna--it came through medium, gray not red. The fish of the day was served with no accompanyment and was a small portion at that.
My family and I come to New York for concerts or during the holidays, and have eaten here on those occasions. This was the first time that we have not felt special. The prices are high, but had the food quality been as good as in the past, I would have no problem paying the bill. We will be looking for an alternative in the future.
Good atmosphere. $28 prix fixe lunch menu was disappointing. Service was rushed.
Here for lunch before theater. We told the waitress. She never asked us if we wanted dessert and disappeared after our lunch was brought to us. I may have given the food a better rating because I did have a nicely done crab meat omelet, but the one mini cornbread was dried out. Very disappointed because it is a lovely room.
VIP customer since Opentables beginning. This is my first review hence my disappointment. Service poor compared to similar priced restaurants. Last time I dined here was in 2003; now the last time I will ever dine at Redeye Grill NYC: 11/30/13. Filet well done instead of medium, pepper for our steaks not offered, wine poured once at the beginning of our dinner, the most disturbing; waiter appeared more concerned with other tables instead of our party of four.
There wasn't anything terrible in our meal - but there wasn't much special either. Except for the stone crab claws, which were marvelous, the rest of the meal was fairly average. Presentation was good, the servers seemed to pay attention but something was lacking. Everyone just seemed to be going through the motions, so to speak. For the prices charged, I expected much more. I'd say it was a pretty good meal but not worth the money. We ended up disapointed.
