They were short staffed on a Friday night. Service painfully slow, but they did comp our drinks to try to make up for it. The food was the biggest disappointment. It seems like they use cheaper ingredients....the jumbo lump crab was definitely not jumbo crab, although the 3 shrimp were large and good but not worth $42. The risotto was bland as was the crispy tuna sushi roll. The management tried to make things better for us and it seemed other tables too. After more than a year visiting Redeye, the space looks great, but the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered salads and sandwiches and they took so long to arrive that the server even apologized. One sandwich order came incorrectly prepared and the lobster cobb salad was tasteless. The room was half full on a Tuesday afternoon at 12:45....I now understand why.

Steak frites was the worst meal for lunch I've ever had in NYC It came disguised with lots of sauce, which i immediately scraped off. It was so salty that, even though I tried to eat from the other end, it was not to be. It was so tough that the steak knife could not cut it. Manager came over and gave me another replacement. The service was SO SLOW - we probably waited almost an hour for our first course and another half hour for the main course. Plenty of waiters running around with not that many tables, so it didn't make sense.

I have been going to Redeye grill for over a decade, but hadn't been in a few years and I feel a bit dissapointed. The food was delicious as always, but the place seemed screaming out for a makeover. On a Wednesday night at 7 PM they were maybe at 75% capacity. The service was pleasant but our waiter seemed to vanish for long periods of time, leaving us a bit frustrated. It is still a good spot for a business meal, group, or pre-theater, but I doubt I'll be back for any other reason.

Had not been at the restaurant in a while and I ordered the $ 27 Nicoise salad with seared Ahi Tuna. I was very disappointed. 4 small pieces of Tuna, lots of greens, 2 or 3 string beans,1/2 hard boiled egg with soupy yolk. I anchovy buried under all the greens. No where worth the money ! Although the service seemed attentive when I first sat down, waiter never came back after our meal was served to ask how everything was and I had to ask for fresh pepper. Very poor service. No manager table touch and when I paid cash they didn't even try to bring my change or receipt . Food over priced.

We got a great table outside. Our server was great. I ordered the 14 ounce NY Strip Medium Rare. When it first came out, it was rare. The second time it came out, it was rare. The third time it was well done. It should not be that difficult, to cook a steak medium rare. There are better places for a steak in NYC.
