We got a great table outside. Our server was great. I ordered the 14 ounce NY Strip Medium Rare. When it first came out, it was rare. The second time it came out, it was rare. The third time it was well done. It should not be that difficult, to cook a steak medium rare. There are better places for a steak in NYC.
Nice ambience, the service was attentive but the food was very expensive and nothing to remember. My wife had chicken schnitzel which seemed to be a deep fried flattened breast. The menu described the accompaniment as "sweet pea mashed potatoes". It should have read mashed potatoes with a few peas on it. The schnitzel came dry with no sauce and overall was uninspiring. We paid more here for 2 people than many restaurants we have been to in New York and given the pedestrain food this was disappointing. Maybe other selections ... read more
Everything is alacart... Which is fine- we were celebrating and willing to spend the money. The service was subpar- the waiter had am arrogance that was not deserved. He was inattentive, dismissive and never around when you needed him. The food was average- definitely not worthy of 50 dollar for an 8 ounce filet -that price doesn't even include salad and side item. Don't waste your time or money on this place.
I ordered the diver scallop appetizer. When it arrived here's what I found on my plate: one scallop and one stalk of asparagus. I'm not exaggerating. That's all. The scallop was good not great. The rest of the meal was just as unimpressive. Service was no-where-to-be-found.
We always visit while in NYC. The service was good up till the food arrived and then we never saw our server again. My husband told him how he wanted his steak done and the waiter suggested medium well-it came way over cooked. My soft shell crabs had absolutely no flavor. Since our waiter never came to check on us and we couldn't catch his attention we couldn't tell him. The food was fantastic, the server was HORRIBLE. Great location and fun to eat outside and watch the people. Once waiter took order we never saw him again.
Waiter was all over us until we ordered and then completely forgot about us. It took a very long time to get the bill. The food was fair. I eat here fairly consistently so was disappointed that the cobb salad was lackluster.
Redeye Grill was one of my favorite restaurants, but not this time. The table was poorly placed and my NY Strip was not cooked how I requested. I asked for medium rare, but it was served well done on one end and rare on the other. The bill was ridiculous, well above other finer restaurants. I will think twice before returning!!!!
This was not a "good" night there. We chose it because we had eaten there before and enjoyed the food and service. This time food was fair at best (and expensive). Reported "problem" to a manager who was most gracious and took care of us. We really appreciated the attention paid to the problems, their concern and willingness to correct them.
