Food quality was OK, much better food can be easily found on the island. Portion size was very small weighed against comparable retaurants on HHI. I had the pan seared grouper which lacked any sauce and was a bit dry/overcooked. It was a very small piece as well. Nothing about it would make me order it again.
We were very pleased with the food and service and would recommend...server was excellent and mindful that we needed to be out of the restaurant because we were attending a play at the Arts Center. We were all very pleased, My Caesar Salad and crab cake was lovely and my friends raved about the shrimp and Grits and others loved the grouper. Very positive experience.
Great new find. Parking can be a problem, but you soon forget it once you are seated and taking in the view.
Ela's did everything right until our food came. The table was as ordered, service was fine, but everything was overcooked. The blackened oysters had to sent back because they were uneatable. All four main dishes were overcooked, and with fish and lobster not a tasty thing. They would have been better off if they had said " sorry we are out of vegetables " instead of serving the dried out items that were put on our plates. The desserts were very good. My wife and I are debating if we want to give Ela's another chance. I am in... read more
We visited on the 4th of July, so service may have been a bit off. Food was great, a bit expensive, but the view was great.
This was a first time experience for all of us int he party. Many good menu selections. It was difficult what to choose. For appetizers, we had the calamari, the crab cake and the wedge salad: ALL GOOD! Calamari was the best I've ever had. For entrees, we had the pizza margharitte, the scallops and the grouper. My scallops were the best (IMHO) although the grouper was a close second. I didn't care for the pizza but the person that ordered it did. Desserts were fantastic! I strongly recommend Ela's!
My partner and I went to Ela's for a Saturday date night. The layout of the restaurant provides quiet, romantic corners despite the crowds. We had an amazing view of the sunset over the sheltered cove in the center of HHI. The musician played just the right songs. Our server, James, was beyond knowledgeable of both the menu and specials, and he knew when we needed some time to ourselves.
Ela's outdoor patio has a beautiful view to the harbor. Unfortunately the food wasn't terribly compelling. Lots of fried options and few salads or light fare. In the heat, not many want to devour a heavy steak or mashed potatoes. Our server was very attentive and the wine list was good.
Everything about Ela's is excellent! From the outstanding, highly experienced owner, the friendly and capable staff,a a great chef preparing wonderful meals with beautiful presentations and amazing views. This is s "must do" for visitors and a favorite of locals!
