We reserved Ela’s on the water for my wife’s Birthday while vacationing on HHI. The advertising for Ela’s on the water leads you to believe it is a more upscale restaurant in the area. We arrived early by about 20 min but the hostess was able to seat us right away. Our server was at our table right away. Everything moved quickly. Our service was terrible. It took a good 15 mins for them to even acknowledge us after we sat down, the waitress barely spoke to us, was short, seemed like we were bothering her. She took our silverware after an app and never brought any more out so we didn’t have knives for our meal, couldn’t find her until we were nearly done. Place was fine, service was okay, food was okay, but there was a private party going on that made conversation virtually impossible. Acoustics are awful.
A bad experience from the beginning. Server-Rhohit- was inattentive. After ordering drinks, he disappeared and I had to go to the bar to get a cocktail adjusted. Only restaurant I know, where we were not given water before the meal. Caesar salad was average and I was never offered a freshly cracked pepper option. Food was terrible. Service and atmosphere was great.
The fish has no taste in the crispy flounder and the salmon Rockefeller, the rice was under-cocked in steamed lobster and crispy flounder.
Pretty restaurant, nice view, and excellent service. Food and drinks were merely tolerable mostly because nothing seemed fresh. The oysters on the half shell were not freshly shucked and lacked the oyster liquor that comes with freshly shucked oysters. When asked how they were, we mentioned they were not freshly shucked and the server ensured us they were "fresh out of the bag". The scallop and crab risotto entree had 2 fishy scallops 2 were fine, undercooked risotto absent of crab or truffle butter, topped with 2 minuscule pieces of pancetta, not worth $42. The grouper entree had raw tasting green beans with one very small piece of carrot and yellow pepper. Not a good representation of Local Baby Vegetables.
