We were looking forward to our meal since it had been a while since our last visit to Ela’s. Food was just ok. The fish sandwich was dry and had no flavor. The server took our order and brought our check. Someone else delivered our meal and picked up dishes. No one asked how our meal was, said goodbye or thanked us on our way out. Not worth the effort of going to Hilton Head for. Flounder was over cooked, re-heated, not freshly cooked. Will not go back nor recommend.
The service was okay, nothing special. We really enjoyed the appetizers and would come back for them. The lobster bisque and Caesar were underwhelming, no lobster meat in the bisque and small portion on the Caesar. The entrees missed on every level. The filet was poor quality and the salmon and fried flounder had no flavor. It was all overpriced for the experience. The patio my view was probably the best part.
We have been visiting ELA’S every time we have been in Hilton Head for the last 10 years. It wasn’t the same. Our server made it seem as though we were an inconvenience. Just a poor level of customer service overall. The reception desk confirmed that we were there to celebrate a birthday upon checking-in for our reservation and yet nothing else was ever said or acknowledged about it. We really enjoyed our evening. The view of the harbor from our seats was terrific. And we truly enjoyed the relaxing live piano music. It was the perfect accompaniment to fine food and service!
It’s a difficult space. Tables are jammed and noise level is high. Friend and I had the salmon Rockefeller. Salmon was overcooked on both. My wife had the lobster ravioli. It was very good. We had a reservation and had a 15 minute wait.
Ordered a bone in ribeye, medium rare. First… ribeyes have fat marbling, and are generally juicy and flavorful. The steak I received was over cooked (was medium well), and had no fat marbling and was not juicy at all. It was very disappointing. An overcooked steak really screws up the evening, because if you send it back, others in your party awkwardly eat theirs while you just sit and watch. The manager was arrogant. We arrived early and asked for a table by the window or outside. Half the tables were empty, but he insisted they were booked and couldn’t seat me anywhere besides this little table against a wall. When we departed there were still several more desirable empty tables. The food was so-so. The waitress was very kind but the damage was already done. Would not return nor do I recommend. It’s not our usual open table dining experience.
We are very disappointed with the overall quality of the food. Several of the dishes were excessively salty to the point they were not even edible.
