Think twice before using Simon Med off of Desert Ridge.I called a local number to make an appointment but was transferred outside of *****************. After setting the appointment for the Desert Ridge location, I asked the scheduler if I needed to fast prior to my appointment. They said that it was not necessary based on the procedure that I was having done. On the day of the image, my wife called to double-check. Simonmed is a bully. I was told I had 100% coverage for my scan. On day of the scan SMI told me I owed $150.00 for a co-pay. I paid it without thought. A few weeks later I recieved a message that I owed an additional $850 to SMI. I logged onto my account and noticed they did not have my insurance information accurate. I called and a representative fixed my insurance information and then told me to wait 45 days for the claim to be reprocessed. I do not know what is going on with this company but to say the least they are headed down a path of no return. I had an appointment in the Phoenix area on 5/20/2021 for a ct scan with contrast. I was told the amount of my copay would be $276 which I paid immediately. I was so uncomfortable I didn't question the amount until the next day. My opinion is they do this type of tactics knowing the patient is in pain. I called my insurance company, and was told it should have been $125 copay. This place is terrible, my wife and I are expecting and this is our first ultrasound, not like they are doing open heart surgery or anything and my wife called ahead to make sure I could come with her and the girl at the front desk said no problem. So I took half a day from work to go, drove 45 minutes out of the way (it's Apache Junction you know..) and once on site we waited for her turn. If I could put zero stars , I would. I was forced to pay for my son's CT (or else they wouldn't do the scan) even though I knew it was covered. It was paid promptly by insurance at 100%. I made calls 4 different times over a year: each time the cs rep admitting a refund was never actually processed but THIS TIME they would get it done. I eventually received the refund, almost 2 years after the date of service. SimonMed deserves no stars at all. In year 2017 my husband had a procedure done and he insurance EOB show that one of the procedures they billed was inclusive to another procedure, and that my husband had no copay as he was using an HMO in network provider. After many calls and attempts to correct the billing with no response from them, I submitted my husbands payment, minus the amount they were not supposed to charge him as per provider/insurance agreement. My husband was scheduled for an CT with contrast on his neck. The appointment was scheduled and confirmed. We arrived at location after receiving 2 text messages from simon med. 1st text confirmed appointment time and day. 2nd text asked me to click to check in. We arrived an hour early for checkin/paperwork and were told his appointment was "no where to be found " that he was not in the system and would not be seen at that location as they do not do contrast on fridays. Very unprofessional! When I booked my US I told the rep that even though you can verify online with BCBS, due to the type of plan I have you have to call and verify.I lost my insurance card, but they office had all my information on the referral from my PCP. When I arrived I was left waiting in the lobby because they tried to verify online and my ID was wrong. Only it was not if they had followed my instructions. Horrible experience with Anthem, AZ Simon Med Imaging. Insurance verification occurs well after arrival, instead of day(s) before per normal practice of medical offices. This causes significant delays that hijack a patients time and is not respectful nor considerate of us who are juggling multiple appointments and work.
