When our family founded Southland Sod Farms, we pledged to take whatever extra steps were necessary to cultivate the healthiest, most beautiful sod ever available in Southern California. We’ve been in the sod business for over 40 years now, and even after our initial success, the Gramckow family promise continues to innovate and improve.

I called Marathon Sod about a 7 days ago and they gave me some advice for a watering schedule since the new grass started changing in appearance. Today I called and expressed concern that the grass was starting the to turn yellow in patches. I was transferred over the phone to Renato who is a regional supervisor and he quickly showed concern and offered reassurance. Renato came out to asses our concerns and clearly pointed out some issues do to watering schedule and recommended a schedule that would promote healthy and ongoing success. Needless to say we were thoroughly impressed with the level of care and commitment Renato and southland sod have for there product.

Two guys, Renato and (forgot his name) from Marathon came out the day they scheduled and on time. They were very knowledgeable. They said the brown spots was from lack of water. I told them the contractor who installed the sprinkler system and the grass (4000 sq ft) said it was a fungus and to let it dry out and cut back the water. Renato placed testing cups in a dozen different locations half in brown areas and half in green areas and then ran the sprinkler system through it’s scheduled times. Southland Sod Farms provided great service from the delivery of the sod to replacement of sod after we were hit with an extreme heat wave. Norm was most helpful with his prompt diagnosis of the problems all the way through the replacement of the sod.
I am so impressed with the Customer Service at Southland Sod. I called with concerns about our newly installed Saint Augustine lawn which was browning out in areas. I was connected with Renado who came out the next morning to assess the problem. Renado was prompt, professional, and so helpful. He assessed the situation and gave me clear instructions on how to proceed to rectify the problem. Renado and Jorge were excellent!!!
We purchased Southland's Marathon Sod approximately 10 years ago and were very happy for several years. Our lawn was critically damaged by the drought a couple years ago and never fully recovered. We were thinking about refreshing our lawn and were coincidentally approached by a group of ‘landscapers’ that were using counterfeit Marathon seeds and marketing materials. Southland Sod Farm rep, John Domenici, was incredibly helpful. He came to my residence and reviewed the problems my lawn was having and came up with a great solution for me. I really appreciated his expertise and guidance he gave me going forward so I won’t have issues maintaining my lawn. I will recommend Southland to anyone thinking of getting new sod. Jim
Great service!! Communication with Southland's staff went well. I received a call immediately after placing my order online, to confirm all of my details. I had to change the delivery date, and this was taken care of immediately. The sod was delivered early in the morning and looked great. Installation by our gardener went easily.
