I can not express how thankful I am that I recently switched to the cat practice for my two cats. Dr. Dodson caught a few serious issues with them that several other vets missed before, including chronic kidney disease in my senior boy and a broken tooth (!!!!!) in our younger girl that the vets at the shelter must have missed over a year ago. The level of care here is just far superior to the last few vets we've seen and I couldn't be more grateful!
I was a client of the Cat Practice from 1988 until 2004 when I left the city. I returned to NOLA in 2019 and one of my first things I did was to get my cats registered at the Cat Practice. I have never been disappointed in the care I have received there for my cats. Dr. Cousins is extremely knowledgeable and empathetic and takes the time to educate the cat owners on the issues their critters have. The staff is terrific, including the office manager. The Cat Practice took excellent care of our little kitten while we got settled in a new home. Shots, flea treatment, tests and bath - they updated us along the way as to her health and comfort. She stayed a few days and they were so compassionate and kind in their communication with us and in their care of her. Yesterday 5/25/2020 I sent another cat, Gray, to see Dr Cousins. He got a full check up, Gray got there for 8;30 am picked him up about 3pm, he needed his shots, bath, and combed out. He looks much better and thinner. Then on 5/26 Hannah called to check upon him to make sure he was doing fine. The entire staff gets a thumbs up Thanks to all
Excellent veterinary care and staff. Dr. Cousins is awesome to our semi-feral kitty William who is scared of his own shadow and just loves our other kitty, Sade, whom he referred to as Maid Sade during Mardi Gras. He and his staff threw an amazing MG party in their office and let you tour their facility. Such a cool space! Plus the food was stunning. Anyways, the care you receive there is top-notch. This place is WONDERFUL!! These are CAT PEOPLE!!! The entire staff was extraordinarily kind in office and on the phone. They really seemed to go out of their way to make me feel like my little kitty was getting the absolute best care. My cat Artie was here for radioactive iodine treatment, so she did have to spend several days here. It made the entire experience less stressful to know she was in such kind and attentive hands. As a new resident I took my cat here due to an issue with her eye. I received great service and options on how to treat her inter ear infection. Will definitely be going back here.
Dr. Cousins and his staff are exceptional. Fielding phone calls as symptoms evolved and listening to my concerns put me more at ease during stressful times. They helped educate me to make the best decisions for my cat over several tough weeks.
I wish I could give The Cat Practice 100/5 stars. I recently became a client with my diabetic cat. My regular vet could not get an appointment for 2 days. I suspected it was something that needed immediate attention and I really wanted to avoid a animal hospital since his care has spiraled in terms of cost. Not only did they immediately get us in for an appointment (despite not even being a current client) but the entire staff has given me confidence in the plan of treatment for my little guy.
