Disclaimer: Pay with cash if you ever go here. We visited the Dunes House twice during the first week of June. The first time we were there, we ordered a few drinks which came out to be about $25.00 total. Towards the end of our week in HHI my husband was looking at our credit card statement online and noticed a $250 charge from the Dunes house, and another charge that was pending for about $200. We were furious to say the least, assuming the worst (that we had been taken advantage of). I called the Dunes house phone number,... read more
Perfect seaside spot for drinks and basic eats. Nice spot for families too; it closes at 8pm. Menu is whatever you would be able to make/eat at a backyard cookout, and it's done well.
After 4 nights of high-end touristy places this was awesome. The fish tacos are perhaps the best I've had. The ambiance is wonderful, sitting out on a deck with kids playing in the sand 50 feet away. Our server Mike was very good and we noticed other help like sidney were all pitching in to help out. I'm coming back for sure.
Come here every spring and summer for weeks at a time for years... We have enjoyed being able to stop for lunch practically every day at beach... And since we bring our dog to beach we have always brought the dog to lunch on patio too as did many others. Or after memorial day kept doing lunch without dog since during day can't have dogs on beach. But this year there are big signs saying no pets. Disappointing and no longer will be stopping here at all. Hilton Head is great for being so dog friendly. This is a huge disappoint... read more

Hello Emily, Thank you again for your feedback. As we mentioned in response to your other posts, we are sorry to hear of your disappointment with our new pet policy. We want The Dunes House to be a safe and enjoyable environment for all. Unfortunately, due to a series of various incidents, we felt it was necessary to put this policy in place. It was hard for us too, as we know how much our guests love their pets. The safety of our guests, their pets, and our associates are very important to us. We do hope to see you again ... read more
Went to Dunes House for a late Sunday lunch. Wait wasn't bad but we couldn't find hostess right away. Got drinks to hold us over during the wait which were amazing, but not very strong. Sat after about 20 minutes and was taken care of right away. My Mom and I both ordered the Fish (Mahi) Tacos which were pretty dry but had a good flavor. She was going to get the Shrimp Tacos but was informed it was frozen shrimp. My dad got the Blackened Trigger fish Sandwich and loved it. Both entrees only served with chips or fruit because... read more
The man with the beard that was working this evening was most unpleasant. He ruined our evening :(
A delightful spot right on the beach at Palmetto Dunes. The menu may be a little limited but the drinks great, the staff is friendly and there is a small, sheltered bar in case of a stiff ocean breeze. All in, this is a great place for a post-golf drink or a light lunch hangout on a sunny day. Entrance is just a few yards past PD North Gate security.
For years we have watched this beach bar develop into a wonderful place to grab a quick bite without having to leave the beach. My wife and my mother came up from the beach for lunch. My wife and I both had a beer: Red Hare IPA for me and Shock Top for her. I ordered the bratwurst with peppers and onions on a bun, and the ladies both had the shrimp wrap with chipotle aoili. A great break on the outdoor deck with the gentle ocean breezes blowing. A new HHI tradition begins!
The place was pretty good. I had the fish tacos with chips and salsa and it was good. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals too. The live music they have on certain nights was a great bonus and the location was great right on the beach. The service was okay, and the only bad thing was the bathrooms weren't so great. So overall it was a good place to go on a night out on the beach, just "go" before you go.
