Servers are the best; personable and conscientious.

A very pleasant place to take out of town guests for pre or post Carnegie Hall concerts. It's right across the street. The menu is extensive, kind of a turbo charged diner menu with an Italian/Mediterranean overlay. Nothing is very challenging or exciting nor need it be - it's just a convenient, attractive, social place, not an emporium for foodies. The crowd was distinctly out of townish on the night we were there and the service was fine.

It's a little pricey, but great quality, great service and excellent portions. We went before an event and the service was timely without being rushed.

Though the noise level was louder than we like, and the restaurant was packed, every dish our party of four ordered was fantastic! Bread, soups, salads, entrées and desserts were swoon-worthy.

Always eat at Trattoria Dell'Arte when in town following our Carnegie Hall appearances with the San Francisco Symphony. It's a tradition that dates back many years and I say quite happily that every visit has been memorable and satisfying. They have kept up a very high level of food quality and service. Thanks to Trattoria Dell'Arte for good food and memories.

The pace is harried, the waitstaff occasionally stressed, but the result is always good. We were in and out with plenty of time to make our concert across the street. Food frankly isn't memorable, but the host's gregarious welcome with a glass of prosecco is. Always fun to see people's reactions to the giant casts of body parts.

We had a delicious meal of pastas, fish and veal. Flavors and textures were mouth watering and memorable. Lemon custard pie was super. However, servers brought the wrong food for appetizers, and were slow to bring bread and refill our water glasses. I broke a tooth on the crusty bread at the beginning of the meal, so I won't touch bread at Dell'Arte ever again altho I had had wonderful soft focaccia type bread at a previous meal. Close location to Carnegie Hall, the quiet upstairs ambience, and the overall excellence of its ... read more
