This restaurant is an "happening" with a varied eclectic menu. Have been a fan since it first opened over 20+ years ago. A New York happening in a great location for theater & Lincoln Center.
Great find right across from Carnegie Hall. Lots of appetizers to choose from and great to order with a group so you can try a lot. Our waiter Jack was fun and attentive and made great suggestions. Love the pricing scheme whereby you pay by the number of apps you order. All were delicious. We supplemented with a terrific flatbread pizza and shared desserts and it was a great meal. Worth returning to even if you're not going to Carnegie!
It is an excellent Italian restaurant. But after theatre, when most restaurants are closed, the Trattoria was good, but not up to its usual standards. I suppose everybody was tired and longing to go home. Ask for simple dishes. i.e. pizza, is always the best.
Loved the special touches. Complimentary prosecco while waiting for table, limoncello after dinner and fresh baked cookies. Makes you feel like they truly appreciate you bring there. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
We chose this restaurant due to its proximity to Carnegie Hall as we had an elderly individual in our party. The entire dining experience was absolutely delightful! We were seated at a window table, which was a wonderful choice for the members of our party from Georgia. The server was very friendly, had a great sense of humor, and provided excellent recommendations for our dinner selections. A wonderful evening and dinner! We sat the in Wine Cellar (three tables in a private room) which was lovely and elegant and quiet. Ask for it for smaller groups. Somehow the communication with our waiter got mixed up after we were seated.... and there was a delay. Normally it wouldn't matter but we had a show at 7:30. The maitre de' couldn't have been more apologetic -- AND he send a complimentary large plate of their fabulous antipasta dishes. This was my first of many times at Dell Arte. It was an exquisite experience.
Friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. Food was good to very good. Overall feel was that the place is alive and fun.
