It was a typical pre-theatre Saturday night with the added challenges of dealing with Marathon eve crowd; so the restaurant had over 750 people being served and still, the food, service, professionalism were impeccable. Quite remarkable.

We had two birthdays to celebrate and the management was kind enough to allow us to bring two custom-made cakes from the great Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken. The staff stored the cakes, cut them and served everyone a slice of each after dinner. Made for a memorable night. ... Great lamb shank!

It's the place to go if you're catching a concert a Carnegie Hall. They know how to get you in and out for a curtain. The service is very old New York -- nothing fancy or pretentious, but attentive, funny, accented and very good. We enjoyed our veal and artichokes and came back for dessert after the concert. They brought us champagne on the house right before the check. It's a classic.

My wife and I visited on a long weekend stay. It was our first night so we were tired and jet lagged and just needed a meal without any problems. We took the advice and they were right, with plates of mi... read more

Delicious, not overly complicated pre-theatre dining.

My guest and I arrived about 20 min late and the restauant was VERY busy. The maitre'd was gracious, took our names, and asked us to wait a few feet away. We were fully prepared to be turned away or to wsit forever. We were seated shortly. Our drinks arrived promtly with some great bread. Our dinner order was placed soon after. Unfortunately, after that, things slowed down. Appetizers were wonderful. But, because our entrees were going to have to be eaten in 15 min and had not arrived yet, I asked for the check to save time.... read more

A good place to eat before going to Carnegie Hall as it's right across the street. It's large enough to accompany a lot of people so can be easier to get reservations than smaller places. Although not for foodies it is a fun, busy place with good, basic fair.
