We did a family canoeing trip for an hour at Cape Fear River Adventures and it was nice. The scenery was nothing exciting and it was full sun the whole time, but our daughter enjoyed the experience. I think tubing would be a little more exciting. Everything was very organized and well run. The grounds are nice too; there's some chairs to sit, relax, and watch the river while the kids play.

I enjoyed learning about the Cape Fear River for the Outfitter Assistances at the Lillington location. I also saw River otters, Beavers wrestling on a bank while I kayaked between Boone Trail Canoe and Kayak Access Point to Deep Rover park. I was lucky and excited . I had a good time learning about the ecosystem, geography and cultural history of that area.

My wife and i took the Intro to River Kayaking this past weekend (6/8/24). It was a very instructional session, with the focus on safety, planning and best practices for beginning paddlers. The instructor kept it fun and easy, and then took us into the water. We practiced in sit in and sit on top kayaks, both to practice in each as well as see what we personally would like better. I booked a 2-person kayak with Cape Fear River Adventures and we had a great experience. You can book 1 hour, 2 hours, or "all day" to kayak, canoe or paddle board. You can also tube. They were very flexible with rescheduling our trip because the river was high. I highly recommend booking an adventure with this company then having lunch or dinner at Lost Paddle Pizza. You can also book a covered wagon if you want to stay overnight and glamp.

October is a slower season, so it was just me and my friend on the river! Andrew was very welcoming and friendly. He made the process as smooth as possible with clear instuctions and clear guidelines to help us get to the kayak as quickly as possible. He also was waiting for us at the pickup point after 2 mile easy paddle kayak experience, so we didn't have to call the # to have them come and pick us up to return back to the home base. The staff were incredibly welcoming, kind, and great to talk to. The only issue we had was that the water was soooooo slow, which we were not used to after moving from the west coast (I think Oregon's waters have a more constant/faster flow due to the snow melt). When we got in the water, we honestly didn't know which direction the water was flowing because it was so stagnant. We had a great time on our visit to kayak. Staff was excellent and very friendly. Want to try tubing next time . Great place to go for fun with my granddaughter or the whole family.
