This was my second visit to Vida. Our first time my wife and I had too many combinations which didn’t sit well with us. This time we chose the a la carte options and shared an appetizer. The food is wonderful, but the service is horrific. It took us at least an hour and a half to get our main course. I eat at lots of places all over the country and this is the worst service I’ve experienced in a while.
We have been to Vida a few times prior and have had a wonderful experience. This visit was not a good experience. We arrived at 8pm for our 8pm reservation. We ordered the four course dinner. At 9pm we were served our first small plate. At 9:30pm our salads arrived. One was prepared incorrectly and was only a plate of lettuce and prosciutto. Sent that back and it was replaced. Quality/taste of dishes does not warrant the price. I don’t mind paying for a great meal but it was not great.
Would typically recommend Vida as one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis based on previous experiences, but had a completely unacceptable restaurant experience on Saturday. After making a reservation for 7 people, I called the restaurant ahead of time to let them know there would only be 5 of us. They told me that wouldn't be a problem and said the table would be ready for us. The bar staff was not friendly or helpful. Tried to engage in conversation but got no interest & they were not busy at all. Actually I do not believe either of them ever smiled the entire time we were at the bar. The serving portions are far to small for the cost of the entree. Good food, inadequate portions, ie octopus appetizer. Server was bartender with her duties divided. The best service came from the young lady filling water glasses!
Very disappointing! We will not return.
It was my girlfriend's birthday so I wanted to take her somewhere nice. The other tables around us were asked if they celebrating anything special and were given complimentary champagne and other cocktails. My GF received a lemon dessert and in brown, chocolate letters had "happy birthday" at the bottom. That is nice but after spending $200 dollars in one night at your restaurant, I expected more.
Food and service were excellent! Chef was right on spot with flavors and cooking time. Vida has the best pastry chef in town!
