Disgusted with Violet Crown Cinema. Sicario was an incredible and disturbing movie - it is rated R for good reason. The only thing more unsettling than the movie itself was having to sit next to a four or five year old child throughout the violence and bloodshed of the 8:45pm showing. (Yes, his parents brought him and that's a whole issue in itself.) Why do you not have a policy of not letting young children into rated R movies? @drafthouse does. The management of this theatre leaves a lot to be desired.The viewer takes the heat for any mistake, even an ushers mistake. Make yourself happy and try another theater.

Here was the problem. We booked seats a week in advance for a movie on Christmas day. There were four of us total. What happened was instead of booking seats on Christmas day, they came out for December 22nd instead, and we did not know this until were sitting in our seats waiting for the movie and got thrown out. Now I understand that they sold their tickets for these seats to someone else, that had appeared to have just bought them, and we had been seated already by the usher earlier. I really hate to give this place a negative review because the "pros" about the theater really make it sound like a great place: -movie starts on time without previews -reasonably priced theater considering no previews ($13 a ticket) -smaller, intimate theaters -comfortable seats with tray table for meals -bar with reasonably priced drinks (less than $10 for a mixed drink) -varied food menu with traditional move snacks and made to order food items Unfortunately, the set up causes way too many headaches mainly due to the fo... read more

After several years of many enjoyable visits to this theater, a truly unhappy experience. Maybe the usual "No talking/No cellphones" clip would have helped. I don't think I saw one. It's a 130 mile round trip for me to come here. Then there was the $28 (with tip) drink. Plus $9 admission. I picked a seat at the far end so no one would be stumbling past me. OMG how can anyone enjoy this theatre? The seats feel like im in a small automobile. My home living room TV is larger then their screen. The fact that I couldn't receive a refund really ticks me off. I walked into the movie, left and requested a refund before the previews even started. The manager is terrible. He took his jolly old time getting us the movie passes that I didnt even want anyway.

I recommend not going to Violet Crown Austin. After enjoying a movie, my date and I approached the counter to get our parking tickets validated. The employee behind the counter immediately dismissed us with "I'm not a bartender," instead of something more customer servicey and professional like, "how may I help you/what can I do for you?" Umm.......lol OK. My date then nicely asked him where we can get our parking tickets validated. Welllll.. Most important, I LOVE independent movie theatres. ESPECIALLY those that have great food and wine options. Having said that, I attended a 4:30 pm screening of Manchester By The Sea with a very close friend. We had food and drink at the bar. Evan was our bartender/server and gave excellent service.
