This is my single favorite place to go in Austin. It's a cinephile's dream. The theaters are clean, comfy (sit in front) and spacious. The audiences are respectful and quiet. And in the three years or so I've been a regular customer, I think maybe once I've seen them show a bad movie. The beer and cocktail selection is fantastic and the free parking garage is great once you get the hang of where it is. Go early and plan to eat and drink before the film, not during.
Buy your tickets online early; select front row seats if you can. Drinks and some food choices good.
My sister and I went recently and it is by far the most wonderful movie experience I have ever had. The Violet Crown is a classy but not stuffy cinema that seems to really care about how your film is viewed. All the employees we encountered were attentive and helpful, especially when we were deciding on what to eat. Art house films, reserved seating, and a respectable drink selection. It's my favorite theater in town!
This is a small theater with reserved seating, great drinks, delicious food and great movie options. Get your tickets online before you go and go early to have a cocktail before the show! The cake balls are always a great option for desert!
Just an amazing all around experience from the decor and environment to the food and beer menu to the excellent film, Whiplash. One of my favorite film going experiences in the entire country. Better even than Arclight Hollywood.
My husband and I recently came here on our "date night" and were blown away by the ease in which we were able to see a top rated movie in the busiest and trendiest part of Austin. I love this theater for many reasons... ~ the ease in parking (if you use the adjacent parking garage they will validate for 4 hours and you are guaranteed a spot). ~ if a movie is playing here it is worth seeing. Violet Crown deserves credit for getting Alamo to do assigned seating. Remember the days when you had to queue up 30-45 minutes before a show, only to still run the risk of ending up on the front row? Countless emails did nothing until Violet Crown came along and showed them how to do it. I'm still a huge fan of Alamo, but I will always be slightly partial to Violet Crown for this reason.
