Good job Vonage, I like it. But needs wifi calling, it is useless when traveling. Update: Reducing two stars as It doesn't use wifi(when available) for call.
But it is not, because calls can not be made using wifi.
This is the dumbest thing! It uses your cell phone minutes and incures international roaming charges!!! This defeats the purpose of an IP phone.
First, Vonage is a VoIP service. Why does this use your mobile phone's minutes instead of data? I was hoping this would allow me to use my Vonage service when abroad, but that's not the case. Because it's making a standard call (instead of VoIP), using this outside of the US means you're making an international call from your mobile.
Works ok with these flaws: 1) needs Internet connection to make it work, though call goes as local call 2) loud ping sound comes while opening any call, though u r in vibration only mode
Vonage removed functionality in this version. You are no longer able to make VoIP calls when connected to WiFi. I'm not sure what the point of this app is anymore, since cell providers already provide any functions this app provides - typically at a lower cost.
Vonage has another app which allows call over Wifi. So I don't know why this does not do it. It would be great if they do it.
Every now and then when I launch the app and select the contact I want to call. It still asks me to dial the number. Wierd!
I downloaded the app to make calls while on an international trip using my Vonage plan over WiFi. Once back home I almost got a heart attack when I saw my AT&T cell pone bill:$220 of roaming charges for 96 minutes. Vonage insists that their app works as advertised and only offered a monthly fee credit of $24.99. I've been with them since 2003 and that's the best they can offer!
