The San Francisco staff at wag hotels is incompetent. I used the wag hotels in West Sacramento for over a year and never had any problems. Since moving back to SF they banned my dog from All Day Play because they said, "he had too much energy for some of the other dogs." I was ok with this and resorted to their Day Stay. After this I probably had to wait an average of 10-15 minutes every time for them to get my dog for me because they were "looking for him". I would watch multiple other dog parents receive their dog before m... read more

Business response:

Hi Radek, Thank you for sharing your experince, and thank you for being patient and working with us as we try different options to see what best suits your dog. I'm glad to hear that you have had so many positive experinces at our West Sacramento, but I'm disappointed to hear that you've not felt the same standard at our San Francisco location. Our staff are all true animal lovers who love spending time with our guests as well as getting to know our human clients. We are also actively recruiting additional animal lovers t... read more

I've reached out to Wag twice with no reply. Actually once they replied saying no other dogs got sick. Look at your Yelp bro! I've escalated this with them. Other dog owners, please do the same.

Business response:

Hi Yasmin, I'm so sorry to hear about your frustrating experience trying to connect with us and relay your concerns. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can take action, and commit ourselves to doing better in the future. It sounds like your pup left not feeling well and we are certainly concerned to hear that. The health & safety of our guests is so important to us, and we never want to hear that one of guests is not feeling well after visiting us. While we know we can never fully eliminate the risk of ... read more

There is no way to contact them directly. None. On the website and 800-number recording it says you can stop by from 10a-6p for a tour of the rooms. I stopped by at 1p. Girl at the desk said "Sorry we're not giving any more tours today." I had a few questions. She said to call the 800-number or check the website. Called the 800 number 3x. Put on hold 3x. I requested a call back 3x. Never got a call back. Was able to find the direct number to the SF location, not the 800 number. Called, it went to voicemail. Left a message as... read more

Not sure how this establishment has 4 stars, we definitely should have at least read through some of the recent reviews as all the 1 & 2 star reviews reflected our experience - food: our dog straight up wasn't fed. why are we paying over $100 / night for our dog to not get fed. we watched the video and had to call to get someone to actually go in and provide food for our dog. isn't this the entire point of boarding our dog? - "exercise time": in my head i was thinking my dog would be bounding with joy and having the time o... read more

Hi Ashley, Thank you for sharing your experince with us. I'm so sorry to hear that you spent so much of your time away concerned about the care your dog received. This is not what we want for anyone trusting us with their loved one to feel. Hearing your concerns on feeding, exercise, and cleanliness have struck a chord with us as we pride ourselves one being experts in care. Finally received a notice back from them (after getting an auto non-response to my earlier email) where they try to tell me that the reason I got food back was because they put it in my dogs' bowls, and they just didn't eat it (which is normal for dogs in boarding) so they put it back in the bowl to give back to me upon pick-up ... which could have been true. Had it been clear the food had never left the bowls I sent in the first place (they were still in perfect squares in the corner of the container and had not at all been... read more

Hi Melissa, Thank you for your honesty in candor in sharing your experience with us. It is never easy to hear about experiences like yours that are not reflective of our values. We pride ourselves on our ability to take top notch care of our furry visitors as well as their human counterparts, so when we hear that we’ve fallen short, we take the opportunity to learn how we can do better. When it comes to caring for our guests few things are as important as properly feeding them. Ensuring that they are kept clean thr... read more

I decided to bring my puppy here because of the hours and it was near my work place. First of all it takes at least 30 minutes for them to check your pet in and that was at 530 am. I will never bring my puppy back here .She has come down with Giardia. She had been very sick since attending the daycare. If you are reading this your pet maybe affected also.

Business response:

Hi Chantay, Thank you for sharing your experince with us. We never like to hear that we fell short of the expectations of our clients or guests. Health & safety is so important to us and we do everything we can to ensure the guests in our care remain healthy & happy. We clean around the clock, adhere to a strict vaccine protocol, and do daily health checks. Despite our best efforts there are times when we see illness occur and it sounds like your experience was one of these times. We feel awful when this happens and ca... read more

***PLEASE READ*** If you are looking to use this service or are currently using this service, please read and I urge you NOT to (TL;DR at the bottom) I first used this service at the end of May. I left my two dogs (Dog A and Dog B) there for a couple of days and afterwards I went to pick them up and paid for the service. When I paid, I handed the person at the front desk my debit card. This person only told me the total fee of the stay and said nothing else. I assumed everything was fine and went home. Dog A had terrible d... read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS HERE. I truly regret not reading the reviews before choosing Wag Hotels. We were in town for the weekend and wanted our dog to have something fun to do while we were in the city so I went online and found Wag Hotel. I was so excited because everything sounded amazing on the website and I wanted my dog to have a fun time and get her energy out. So I created a profile online, uploaded all vax records, etc. and then when I went to reserve for daycare, it says to call. I tried calling numerous times and r... read more

I used to bring my dog here daily for All Day Play pre-pandemic and we both loved it. I felt she was well cared-for and came home tired and happy. The staffing seemed stable and folks got to know and recognize my dog, and vice versa. I completely trusted them. I understand the pandemic has made things very difficult for businesses, but it seems Wag is no longer able to safely and reliably manage the dogs under their care. We've had two consecutive issue with reservations, whereby a reservation is confirmed and then we show... read more
