I was excited to try this venue, new to me, and I took my two dogs for grooming. I was happy with one of my two dogs cuts, my second fur kid was marginal and has been a horrible experience. The first problem I noticed was that my pups private area was "nicked" and she was in pain and miserable for a week, needing pain relief salve daily. I was told that the groomer was "new". I wasn't aware that I needed to request an experienced groomer! Three weeks later I discover that my pup has ear infections in both ears! First time ev... read more

Was pretty disappointed with this wag hotel. I've had nothing but positive experiences with the one in Oakland so I booked a day stay for my two dogs and they sent me a email saying that they were missing some vaccine records and I could go through the portal to upload. I promptly did that the same day. Thinking I was ok for the day of reservation I drove down only to have to wait 20 minutes for the girl to say they are missing vaccines records still saying that they never received them. Frustrated but ok I know I have them ... read more

We boarded our 8 month old pup for the first time at the Wag Hotel in West Sac. We were give 2 "no charge" day care days prior to the first boarding. Prior to our departure we were only able to use one of the day care days. The Wag Hotel webcam allowed us to view what was occurring during the day care session. Our pup was very shy, hiding in corners, under shelving, and waiting at the door to escape. At one point he was picked up to be removed from the day care area and promptly dropped on the floor. A number of days la... read more

Left my two dogs here for 3 nights in June and one of them came home sick. She was so lethargic & sneezing/coughing. This was the 2nd time I had left them there and decided They aren't going back after this. They have been at other facilities/daycares and I have never had this happen with my dogs in 13 years. I see other reviewers listing similar issues. Such a shame, it's not cheap to board your pets here you would think they have better cleaning practices. Sorry Wag, I'm opting for Rover and the plus is they get more human... read more

This would absolutely be a five star review and if I could give it 10 I would. However, the technologies the Wag hotels use is so antiquated. it is ridiculous and very frustrating. There's one phone number to call. You will get an automated system where they will tell you all about how they are experiencing high call volume blah blah blah. After this you will be given the option to hold or leave your phone number for a callback. I've actually done both. Neither is satisfactory. It's simply an unacceptable technological situa... read more

My girlfriend and I boarded are American bully's here, and we have to take them to the vet, they are both extremely sick and lethargic! They were boarded for 10 days, u would think a huge and EXPENSIVE facility like this would keep their business in top shape and CLEAN! My poor animals health is now ruined and they are so sad ): this breaks my heart! Who knows how many other animals are sick there right now waiting for their owners to take them home!!!! Terrible!!!!!!

Do NOT bring your animals here unless u want to pick them up SICK, and have to take them to the vet afterwards! I boarded my american bully and pit bull at this west sac. Location for 10 days! I paid $1,200!!!!!! My dogs WERE in GREAT health when i dropped them off! And upon receiving them, they both are sneezing and one of them had a TON of mucous coming out of her nose it was terrible she could barely breath and they both looked SO sad! And to top it off EVERY SINGLE VET/ HOSPITAL IS COMPLETELY BOOKED!!! I'm typing this re... read more

Business response:

Hi Edith, thank you for your review and for speaking with us. We understand how upset you are, and sympathize with your situation. Canine Cough can be transmitted through the air as well as through direct & indirect contact (via a shared object). Similar to the human cold where infection is most likely to occur in populated, enclosed environments such as airplanes, elevators, or offices; Canine Cough is more likely to occur in environments where groups of dogs are interacting with one‐another, such as in dog parks, dog dayc... read more

I was excited to board my dog here because it was recommend by a friend who was extremely happy with the service. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience. I booked my dog's stay a month in advance and I was under the impression that everything was fine until I got an email two days before I was supposed to board her informing me that the reservation has been cancelled. I immediately called Wags and left a message for someone to call me back. In the meantime, I went back on the app and reserved my dog's stay for the... read more

We have a 14 year old cocker that requires a specialized diet for a medical condition. We proposed to bag up all his meals for them to dole out each day for a one week stay, and further agreed to pay their daily $45 special care fee on top of their $91 a day room charge just for them to do this, but today they rejected our boarding request. They apparently feel the liability of overseeing an elderly dog for a week is too high. We boarded our cocker for many years at Franklin Ranch Pet Hotel in Elk Grove following this sam... read more

Business response:

Paul, thank you for your thoughts and feedback on our scope of care policy. We wish we could tend to every guest, but we are committed to ensuring we can deliver the right and proper care for every pet that walks into our facilities. We have many considerations in place for senior pets such as Rufus. Due to his diagnosed IBS, his age, medication intake, it being a extended stay, and concern for kidney and liver damage if not taken out on a specified schedule we felt Rufus would be better cared for under the watchful eye of v... read more
