I am not sure how to adequately describe just how bad my experience with Wheelhouse was while living at Topaz. I lived there for 2.5 years, mostly due to location and convenience. Though I moved in right after the building was renovated, there were ample structural and management problems. My apartment was located over the boiler room, which meant that I had no control over the temperature or utilities usage in my apartment. Even in the winter, my apartment was at least 80 degrees. Worst company I've dealt with in my entire life. Never responds to maintenance and has the worst response rate for admin staff possible. Completely understaffed for as many properties as they manage.

So I moved into a cheap one-bedroom back in 2011. It was a decent place on 12th and Colorado, owned by a nice old guy. The neighbors were nice, and even though things were old in the apartment, the complex was kept clean and the price was right. I lived there a year or so then the building got bought by Wheelhouse Apartments. I didn't know anything about them at the time, but I would soon learn. If I could leave this place a ZERO I would. The management company completely disregards safety and security requests sent by tenants. We had to threaten legal action to get any movement out of them. This apartment management is the inner city Walmart of management companies.

Wheelhouse recently bought out my apartment complex, and I was hoping for better than what we had before... Well, this is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. There is trash all around the outside of the building, making it look like a dump. The pool looks radio active and has not been dealt with in years. My refrigerator was leaking, and the loose water was rotting my food, upon move in- it took at least 5 phone calls to even be acknowledged that we were reporting a problem. I lived here for 2 weeks and found out the entire building was infested with bed bugs. I paid the next months rent and stayed in my apartment 2 nights of the month only to be covered in bites both mornings. They told me there was not an infestation, but I didn't believe them. I hired an exterminator and paid for it out of my pocket. He found a nest in my kitchen and said that there was an infestation that had been there for at least 6 months. It has become clear that Wheelhouse and Boutique Apartments (same company) don't care about their tenants. I complained that my "secure" locked mail box was pried open the very day I moved in (over a month ago) yet I never received a response. Then my girlfriend complained after our mail box was pried open two more times and the mail was stolen. These frauds have hidden rules / "qualifying criteria" and they never mention it. They even charge for application fees when someone doesn't have a SSN or valid US government issued ID. Such crap. DO NOT RENT WITH THESE MONEY GRABBING A$$HOLES! They are only after money, nothing more. Calling the main office line is useless because they NEVER answer and NEVER return a call. I've lived in the Booker T apartments in Five Points for the last year and a half, and I've finally hit the breaking point with Wheelhouse. A year ago, the roof of our apartment started leaking anytime it rained heavily. We regularly submitted work order requests and left voicemail messages with the main office about this.
