Much better than Hayward Navigator XL After a fair amount of research I bought the Baracuda G3 to replace my old Hayward Navigator XL. This was actually my second Navigator and between the two of them they did a reasonably good job for the past eight or so years. I decided to try something else, however, because the Hayward units required frequent repair and they were never much good at sweeping the sides of my pool.I'm very happy to report that the G3 performs MUCH better -- at least with my rectangular-shaped pool. I tried... read more

Great product, but diaphrams are an issue. I LOVE this pool cleaner!!! I bought it due to the excellent reviews that I read, and the minimal parts that would need replacing in the future. My pool maintenance has been significantly reduced. All I have to brush now are the stairs and the swim up deck occasionally. The Baracuda climbs the walls and keeps my 12,000 gallon pool sparkling!! I'm saving on chemicals as well. One thing I really love is that it still skims while vacuuming the pool bottom. Definite must have!!!Edit 7/2... read more

it cleaned great. Problem is I bought this to replace my Zodiac MX8 which I kept dumping money into because everything on that cleaner only lasts 6 months to a year. When the MX8 was running, it cleaned great. Problem is, it's like owning an old high performance car, always needing maintenance. The G3 has ONE part that is going to need regular maintenance, the diaphragm. How does it compare to the MX8? Well, the MX8 cleans better. period. Here in Arizona we get dust storms and our pools pay the price. After the last heavy dus... read more

Works excellent stairs, wall sides and flooring The farthest end of my pool is 25 ft, so I use 8 segment + 2, but I found it works best at 8+1 segment. From the side port I connect 1 hose segment then the leaf catcher. Then between the 2nd and third segment I put a connector ($8.0) with swivel. This swivel solve most of the problen with the hose looping and get stucked. The only drawback is it sucks some air but I think its negligible. Still I put a weight near that segment to solved that problem. My suction is at 3 adjusted... read more

IT WORKS & I DON"T HAVE TO! I used this item for the first time today. All I had to do was set it up, put it into the pool, connect it, and watch it work. After that, the hardest task I had to do was enjoy my beverage! I am amazed at how thoroughly it vacuums the pool. The startup guide was simple(perhaps too much so) ... but by paying close attention to the diagrams and taking your time, it was a piece of cake to get it going.UPDATE: it’s about four years later and this item is still working well! Some lessons learned: 1. I... read more

Good value so far and works well in my pool so far As for effectiveness of the G3 in my pool, that will take more time than the 2 weeks it's been in use. We have a large 30,000 to 38,000 gallon 8.5 ft deep diving pool. While somewhat rounded corners, the shape of the pool is a very squared off "L" shape. with the shallow end on the smaller part of the "L". It's running at night, and I have seen it in the shallow end; it appears to spend most of it's time in the 5ft to 8.5ft areas. I know it's not a depth thing as it works pe... read more

Not performing well Instructions for initial assembly absolutely suck. It’s not complicated but the directions made it appear so. We finally just figured it out in our own and verified afterwards. Not the end of the world.Bigger issue now is that it will only clean half of our pool. East half is sparkling, so it’s capable but it avoids the west half like the plague. I drag it over and it goes straight to the other half. Have never had this issue. This thing could be great but I need to get that figured out or replace it.

Clogs easily Not very impressed with this pool cleaner. Bought it about 7 months ago. I used to have an MX6 tracked version that lasted about 3-4 years but wanted to try the G3 since it had a higher review rating. The G3 is temperamental with the pool pump and valve settings to get the speed right. It clogs very easily with leaves to the point where I am frustrated enough to buy the MX6 again. That one would never clog from leaves. Only thing that would clog it was sticks, which was very infrequent.

Clogs easily on leaves It easily clogs and stops working. It stopped after sucking up a leaf. Then the next day it was a small berry. Then the 3rd day it was another leaf. Not worth the hassle of having to take it out of the pool every time and unclog it. My last cleaner had zero issues clogging.
