I live in rural Alberta, Canada and we run a family operated plumbing company. It was suggested to me that a VOIP phone might work for us. 8x8 was recommended but I should have done my research first! On July 1, 2015, I inquired about their Voip phone. The salesman, Kevin **, rushed me into purchasing. Only minutes later I get an email asking me to confirm the order, if I don't confirm it by July 1, 2015 by 5:00 it will be canceled. Before I get to confirm the order, I get a second email thanking me for my order. I thought that was odd, I should have called him on it then but I thought --"well It's already done I'll just give it a try, especially if it saved money like they claimed." (He didn't even spell my last name right.)So I am setting it up with the technician, and the only phone number they can issue me has an area code several hours away (780 area code). How am I supposed to run my small town business with a long distance business number? Business will die out if I try, as there are 3 additional plumbing companies in town. He promises to phone back and fix it. I never hear from him again.Long story short. This is my problem, not theirs, apparently--it's all mine. It is now March 2016. I have paid nearly 300.00 in 8x8 monthly fees, and am looking at paying an additional 200.00 to cancel because I'm on the 3 year plan, and they don't want to take a loss. I will have paid over 500.00 when all is said and done and I never made one phone call on their beloved phone. All because the salesman and tech guy don't know their stuff and promise what they can't deliver. The 8x8 VOIP phone may work for American customers, but if you live in any other country, they are likely ignorant to how things work in yours. They will grab your money and run. I will never recommend this company and do my best to warn everyone I know away from them. I hope their precious additional 200.00 dollars is worth it and covers damage of a bad review. To their credit the staff helping me with the cancellation were kind, courteous, and apologetic. Joseph was helping me finish it off, but according to him his higher ups just didn't want to take a loss, so here I am. While Joseph is helping me, he looks to see if it is even possible for them to issue me a number with a 403 area code. He confirmed that they sold me something that they never could provide.
