I was a satisfied customer with 8 X 8 for nearly 5 years, although there were much less expensive phone service providers. After nearly five years I chose to cancel my 8 X 8 service, primarily because I was offered phone service, by a new service provider, at less than half the cost of my current service. DO NOT RECOMMEND 8 X 8. Monthly rate went up to almost 50% in 2 years and when you call to discuss the staff do not care. Customer Support is horrible.

My colleague and I enrolled in services from 8x8 back in 2017. We only used the services for maybe four months at the most, as we dismantled the business in pursuit of other ventures. I have called in on several occasions to see what was needed in order to cancel the contract, i.e what the cancellation costs were, if a notice was required, etc. We were unable to pay the full balance at the current time so I called back in a while later to finish the cancellation process. Be sure to read your terms and conditions. They automatically place you on auto renewal so if you cancel after your first year, they charge you ridiculous fees. Also, they charge you to store all of your call recordings with no warning. So if you have that option selected, you will be charged. None of this was told to me when I signed up and I for sure didn't have time to carefully read 18 sections of terms and conditions. Horrible customer service and "terms". After being a customer for several years, I called about the pricing and found we could have been paying about half of what we were but because we didn't know to ask for a promotion, we didn't receive it. They did give it to us at this point, then when the "terms" were over, it doubled again with no notice. Do not go one auto pay. And beware of automatically renewing contracts. This company does not make it easy to leave. After months of paying for nothing, because we had switched services, this company continued to charge and credit card and then charged us a termination fee of over $500.00. Do not use this company.

If I could give less than one star - I would. The service is okay when it works. The tech and customer support are awful - one department has no idea what the other department is doing. As stated herein, once you file an issue, you can expect days delay or hours on the telephone with them. WORST OF ALL -TWO TIMES THEY PORTED MY NUMBER OUT OF THE SYSTEM LEAVING ME WITH NO PHONE SERVICE!!! I own a company that has been a loyal 8x8 customer for 5+ years with up to $750 per month in business to this company. Today I discovered that 4 yrs ago our sales rep added a feature to one of our lines junior employee's lines without our knowledge with a recurring charge of $12.99/mo. While we have NEVER used or activated the feature (because we didn't order it and didn't know it existed), 8x8 has charged us the recurring fee every month for several years.
