Having frequented Alexanders for the last 20 years, we have sadly noted some decline in quality and service in the last year or two. Our most recent visit prompts me to speak out...The prime rib was poor quality and tasteless. Fish special was ridiculously overpriced and piled on top of the sides to create a messy conglomerate. In the past we had gone to Alexander's every trip to Hilton Head. Apparently, since we've last visited, there is a new owner and new chef. The ambiance is different, but nice. The telling sign should've been how easy it was to get a reservation on a Friday night. The place was fairly empty. The food was overpriced, and although certainly edible, left everyone unsatisfied. So disappointing. New management has destroyed a local favorite. Wait staff / service was horrible ! We had reservations, the restaurant was basically empty and waited over 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Food was at best mediocre and wine list is the most expensive on the Island. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
Their website did not publish prices except for the early bird, which looks like a good deal. Too many great choices on Hilton Head to return.
