One of my friends referred me to Home Shield and I haven’t had any complaints. I usually call or submit claims online and the service has been good. Due to COVID, I can understand where the delay can be, but the contractors come.

When I got in my new home, I used the restroom on the first floor. When I flushed it, there was a big leak between the tank and the bowl. The claim submission process with American Home Shield was pretty easy. American Mechanical had somebody come out and look at the toilet. It was very, very old. They said that there was no way that they could repair that, so they put in a new one. I would encourage others to get a warranty especially when they're buying something that hasn't been updated since 1970.

My dryer started making like a knocking noise and it happened in this awful COVID-19 time. The contractors came out. The guy was very friendly. He wore his mask. Everybody was protected. It took a while to get the part, but everything was being delayed. Then, once they received it, he called. He scheduled it and they replaced the part. It's been working fine ever since. They were very pleasant to work with. I had another claim. My swamp cooler was last summer. AHS was pretty prompt and they were getting things done. If I had... read more

I would recommend American Home Shield because it’s really good if something breaks down and you don’t have the money. You just pay one-time fee, which is great. I’ve been a customer for a long time. I call and speak to a customer service rep to submit claims and I haven't had any problems with them. Champs Heating came out and I got my air condition back up and running. But sometimes there’s a slow process when items need to be fixed. The contractors wouldn't have parts and it may be weeks and weeks. One time, my furnace we... read more

Before we got hooked up online, submitting a claim to American Home Shield was very difficult. We were on hold for an hour or two to get somebody. The first time I submitted a claim, I found out I got the wrong person. Now, we go online and tell their system what our problem is and that's quicker than before. AHS's contractors have come out pretty quickly for me. There was one day when we got worried because our toilet was plugged. Still, we found what the plug was and that issue got eliminated in a hurry. Some time ago, thei... read more

The claims process with Home Shield was easy and the guys from A & S Plumbing were very polite, very informative, and mannerly. I was surprised by the customer service. They’re good at what they do.

American Home Shield had better service plus more things were covered with them other than some of the other companies that I was looking at. Plus, I wanted to have septic coverage. I went with AHS and one time, I submitted a claim over the phone. The phone system was asking for a description of what my problem was and it gave me five seconds to describe it. I couldn't do that in five seconds so I just hung up the phone. I did it online after that instead. The guy who came from Taylor Mechanical which was sent by AHS was a g... read more

American Home Shield has been all right, but their claims process is too time-consuming sometimes. We can submit the claim as quickly as we want to. But between the time the claim is accepted and the time someone is assigned to us, there can be quite a delay depending on who you are assigned to. In most cases, it looks like they only have one vendor in an area. So that, if one person says, “Hey, I cannot get there to fix your whatever for three days,” it would be nice if they defaulted to another one. Nevertheless, the contr... read more

I'm old and retired. If something like an icebox went out, I wouldn’t have to spend $1,500 for it because supposedly, if American Home Shield can’t fix it, they’ll replace it. The warranty is $50 a month, which is not terrible. That’s the main reason I got it. I've used AHS for about five times and I've been satisfied every time. All Appliance Parts did a simple fix on the icemaker. The tech took about 10 minutes.
