I've only had good experience with the people they’ve sent out, so I like them. We've had someone come out and look at the air conditioner twice. They came out the same day too. When the microwave went out, they had to order the part and it took a week, which was realistic. Overall, American Home Shield made it painless to submit claims and get things taken care of. I do everything online and they called to confirm. It was very easy. In fact, we're so happy with it. When our contract is up, we're gonna renew it with them.
The house was old. Also, when we were closing on it, we needed to use a certain amount of money or we would have lost it. So, we decided to just go with Home Shield. We went with them mainly due to their reputation. When the circuit was screwy, I went online to file request. I’m used to doing it that way. Such a great experience. The garage door stopped working on a Saturday and by The next week it was completely fixed and technician did an amazing job and provided great service.
I called in my claim to the IVR system. Because of the type of repair, the contracting company needed to get ahold of me to schedule the appointment. And then, Expert Pools called a few hours later. The timer broke on the pool pump so they had to replace it. The tech knew right away what was wrong, had all the tools to diagnose it and had the parts on his truck. I submit claims online and then Home Shield usually sends me an email saying who they contacted and who will be coming out. And within 24 hours, I usually get a call of who's coming out and when they're coming out and it has been really good. We had a refrigerator that had issues and Home Shield did their best to fix it. Perhaps because it was an older model, they couldn't get some parts. But they got it fixed. Submitting a claim was real easy on the website. Obviously, it takes a lot longer on the phone. Since I was new, it took a little while to process, to get it where you can do it on the website. But since I've done it on the website, it's quick and painless. The tech was on time, didn't take very long to get the job done and answered all my questions. He was good.
When we moved into the house, the appliances were five years old. We waited a while before getting American Home Shield but we knew the appliances would be getting older. My wife called a claim with AHS in for an issue with the pool pump. When the guy from Allen's Pool Service called me, my wife and I wouldn't be here so I left the gate open for him. Then he fixed the issue and he did a good job. The pool pump has been good since the service.
There was a screen in the pool that needed to be replaced. The guy from Ultra Pools looked at that and replaced it. He had the screen in his truck. He got that fixed so the pump was running better. He got it balanced out between the pump and the pool sweep. He came back out later and saw that there was an issue with the pool pump not working properly. I had a gas pipe that was going into the kitchen that the elbow was rusting out and the gas shut-off was hard to turn. It was an easy process when I made the request, but on the website, it's a little more prickly if you go to a trade and you have to do multiple items in a trade. One instance was plumbing. It only allowed me to select four items that I had problems with, but I had five at that time, so I did the four on the website.
